Maoist Threat Letters to Four AP Ministers Trigger Police Probe

Anonymous threat letters allegedly issued in the name of Maoists to four Andhra Pradesh ministers have triggered concern in political and security circles, prompting an immediate police investigation into their origin and authenticity.

The first such letter was received by Tourism and Culture Minister Kandula Durgesh, following which a complaint was lodged at the Thullur police station. Soon after, similar letters surfaced at the offices of three other ministers — Anagani Satya Prasad, Kollu Ravindra, and Satya Kumar — raising serious concerns over their safety.

According to officials, the letters contained warnings purportedly from Maoists and threatened harm to the ministers’ family members. In Minister Durgesh’s case, the letter reportedly reached his office at the state secretariat, cautioning that his family could face life-threatening danger. His personal secretary, Srinivasa Rao, filed a formal complaint with Thullur police on Tuesday night.

The fact that such threatening letters were delivered directly to ministerial offices within the secretariat has caused considerable alarm among authorities. Sources revealed that all four letters carried identical content, including the same phone number, suggesting a coordinated attempt to intimidate the ministers.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to trace the sender of the letters and determine the motive behind the threats. Security arrangements are also being reviewed as officials work to assess the credibility of the messages.
