Following the underwhelming performance of Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab, director Maruthi is reportedly going through a tough phase in his career. The setback appears to have impacted his prospects of securing projects with top-tier stars, placing him in a tricky situation professionally.
After directing a big-budget film with a major star, Maruthi also finds it difficult to return to the kind of double-meaning romantic entertainers that marked his early career with younger actors. This transition phase has left him navigating limited options, making his next move crucial.
Although Maruthi recently hinted that he would be directing megastar Chiranjeevi, industry sources suggest that this collaboration is unlikely to materialize anytime soon. Adding to the uncertainty, a section of Chiranjeevi’s fans has been vocal on social media, urging the megastar to work with directors who offer fresh narratives and boast a strong recent success track record. Many fans are clearly not keen on a Maruthi–Chiranjeevi combination, believing that senior stars should align themselves with proven and innovative filmmakers.
Moreover, Chiranjeevi is currently committed to a project with director Bobby, which he is expected to complete first. This existing commitment further diminishes the chances of a Maruthi–Chiranjeevi collaboration in the near future, making the project, at least for now, seem improbable.
