Maruti Suzuki Unveils e VITARA: India’s First Premium Electric SUV


Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has reached a significant milestone with the launch of its first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the e VITARA, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. This premium electric SUV combines cutting-edge technology, luxurious features, and sustainability, perfectly aligned with India’s ambitious push toward greener mobility solutions.

Built on the innovative HEARTECT-e platform, the e VITARA offers exceptional performance, boasting an impressive driving range of over 500 km on a single charge (61kWh variant). With its bold exterior design, futuristic features, and focus on eco-friendly technology, the e VITARA is poised to redefine the electric vehicle market both in India and globally.

Key Features of the e VITARA
Futuristic Design: The e VITARA features a sleek and aerodynamic design with R18 alloy wheels, a distinctive polyhedral styling, and advanced LED lighting. Inside, a premium twin-deck floating console and ambient lighting elevate the luxury experience, making it a true premium offering.

Performance: The e VITARA is powered by a high-efficiency electric motor and is available with two battery options—49kWh and 61kWh. With three driving modes—Eco, Normal, and Sports—and an advanced regenerative braking system, the e VITARA maximizes performance and efficiency for a dynamic driving experience.

Safety and Technology: The e VITARA is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), seven airbags, and an energy-absorbing battery structure to ensure safety. The Next-Gen Suzuki Connect system integrates over 60 advanced features, offering customers a seamless and intuitive digital experience.

Eco-Solutions: Maruti Suzuki introduces the ‘e for me’ ecosystem, designed to enhance the EV ownership experience. This includes smart home chargers, fast DC charging infrastructure, and over 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops spread across more than 1,000 cities in India.

Vision for a Sustainable Future
Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, emphasized the company’s three-pronged strategy to make BEVs attractive to customers: First, by developing a dedicated BEV platform for optimal performance; second, by creating the right products tailored to customer needs; and third, by leveraging global economies of scale with a unified global manufacturing base. He highlighted India as the strategic hub for manufacturing due to its ability to produce high-quality products at scale, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” vision.

Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, shared more details on the e VITARA’s design and performance, mentioning its specially designed HEARTECT-e platform and highly efficient battery options. He also outlined Maruti Suzuki’s plans to expand EV adoption in India, stating that the company’s goal is to offer a comprehensive Electric Eco-Solution. This will include smart home chargers, extensive charging infrastructure in top cities, and a network of 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops.

Market Presence and Availability
The e VITARA will be sold exclusively through NEXA dealerships and exported to over 100 countries, showcasing Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to establishing India as a global hub for electric vehicle manufacturing. The vehicle will be available in two battery variants, with 10 color options, including four dual-tone variants. Pre-bookings for the e VITARA will soon be available through NEXA dealerships and the official website.

With the introduction of the e VITARA, Maruti Suzuki is setting new standards in the electric vehicle market, pushing the boundaries of performance, design, and sustainability.
