Ace filmmaker AR Murugadoss is back in the spotlight as he actively promotes his upcoming film Madharasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead. The film is widely viewed as a significant comeback project for the director, who has been candid about the lessons learned from his past setbacks.

In a recent interview, Murugadoss opened up about the disappointing performance of his previous film Sikandar.

“The core story of Sikandar is very close to me. It speaks about relationships and how life changes drastically after personal loss. However, the way I envisioned the film and how it eventually shaped up were completely different. I couldn’t execute it the way I wanted, and I am not the only one responsible for its failure,” he admitted.

When asked if he felt similarly about his blockbuster successes, Murugadoss offered a nuanced response.

“Ghajini was a remake. With Aamir Khan’s complete trust and support, I could deliver what I intended. If I make a film and audiences reject it, I’ll accept that. But when the final product doesn’t reflect my vision, the result—good or bad—doesn’t affect me as much,” he explained.

Murugadoss’ remarks make it clear that Sikandar slipped out of his creative control, limiting his ability to translate his original vision onto the screen. He emphasized that filmmaking is a collaborative process and hinted at lacking full backing during its production.

With Madharasi, the acclaimed director is determined to reclaim his form, promising a film shaped entirely under his creative command. The project, featuring Sivakarthikeyan in a pivotal role, is generating strong anticipation among fans and industry watchers alike.
