Actress and producer Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a probe into the promotion of illegal betting apps. She arrived at the ED’s regional office in Basheerbagh around 10:30 a.m.

Officials are expected to question her about endorsements for betting platforms, contracts she signed, the remuneration received, and related financial transactions. Her statement will be recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Manchu Lakshmi is the fourth actor to be questioned in this case, following Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, and Rana Daggubati. Rana was grilled for nearly four hours on Monday, while Prakash Raj appeared on July 30 and Vijay Deverakonda on August 6. Each session reportedly lasted between four to five hours.

The ED had, last month, summoned the four actors as part of a larger investigation involving 29 celebrities — including actors, influencers, and YouTubers — booked for allegedly endorsing illegal betting platforms, in violation of the Public Gambling Act, 1867.

The probe, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), stems from five FIRs registered in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
