Radhika Apte’s Remarks Spark Fresh Controversy in South Cinema
December 20, 2025

Talented actress Radhika Apte, who often finds herself in the headlines more for her outspoken and controversial remarks than her acting prowess, has once again stirred debate—this time targeting her experience in a South Indian film.
While promoting her upcoming film “Saali Mohabbat”, Radhika participated in an informal chat alongside her co-star, during which she made some striking comments. Although she acknowledged that South cinema is currently producing strong and meaningful content, she also shared an unpleasant experience from a film she worked on with a relatively small crew.
Radhika said she felt uncomfortable and intimidated on set due to the absence of women in the crew. She pointed out that the production house provided an all-male technical team, which left her shocked. According to her, the situation worsened when the team allegedly insisted that she wear extra padding around her hips and chest to enhance her appearance on screen.
Expressing her frustration, Radhika remarked that she was irritated by the demand and questioned how much “roundness” was expected of her. She added that she strongly objected to the suggestion and made it clear that she would not agree to wearing any padding.
These comments did not go down well with sections of South Indian cinema audiences and fans. Many felt that Radhika unfairly generalized and mocked the industry, accusing her of making such remarks strategically ahead of her film releases to stay in the limelight. Some also countered her statements by pointing out that cosmetic enhancements are far more common and openly discussed in Bollywood.
As expected, her remarks have once again ignited a debate on gender sensitivity, body image, and double standards across film industries.
