With anger brewing out on the injustice meted out to AP in Budget 2018, Telugu Desam Party’s Parliamentary Party is scheduled to meet on Sunday (Feb 4) to take a call on ‘continuing’ the ties with the BJP that has been ‘ignoring’ AP since it came to power in 2014. Upset with the ’empty hand’ to AP in the Budget, disappointed Naidu wants to chalk out a strategy to mount pressure on the NDA government.
While many of the senior leaders of TDP are fuming on ally BJP and wanting their leader to ‘call it quits’ with BJP, Chandrababu Naidu is busy ascertaining the consequences that follow after breaking ties with BJP. Since the progress of the state is top agenda, Naidu and his brass are breaking over their heads on how to go about it without affecting projects such as Polavaram National Irrigation project and other funds to the state from the Centre.
MPs Ram Mohan Naidu, JC Diwakar Reddy have expressed great displeasure over the Budget, while Rayapati Sambasiva Rao openly stated that he is ready to resign for his Lok Sabha seat. TG Venkatesh openly told media that TDP wouldn’t hesitate to walk out of NDA if it continues to display ‘step-motherly’ treatment to AP.
Since BJP received a set back in the recent by-elections in Rajasthan, TDP is closely observing the ‘people’s changing mood’ and is expected to take a ‘right step’ at ‘right time’. Naidu to said to have displayed his anger and resentment on Friday over BJP ‘sidelining AP’ during his meeting with TDP’s coordination committee.
As none other than Naidu himself in rebellion mood, top TDP leaders too echoing similar feelings openly. Finally, it is a major Sunday for both TDP, BJP. It needs to be seen what Naidu and TDP Parliamentary Party would decide. A la popular dialogue of Balakrishna from epic Gautamiputra Satakarni, will Naidu utters, “Mitrama…Saranama? Ranama?”. Let’s wait and see.
