YSR Congress MLA and TV host Roja has been suspended from Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly for 1 year. AP Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad has confirmed the suspension. Following Roja’s severe remarks against Assembly leader and AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Finance, Legislative Affairs’ Minister and one of the senior MLAs in the house, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has moved a petition against Roja to suspend for 1 year. Reacting on it, Speaker Kodela decided to suspend Roja. This is considered as a highest-term for a member of legislative assembly to get suspended in the recent times.
This is not all. Roja happens to be the first MLA that too lady MLA, to be suspended for such a long period after the new state of Andhra Pradesh is formed.
Roja said to have made derogatory comments on CM Chandrababu Naidu in the floor of the house, demeaning his chair and office. Her comments have been removed from the records of the AP Assembly. A former member of TDP, Roja jumped into YSR Congress in 2014. She contested from Nagiri constituency in Chittoor district where she won with a slight margin.
