A lot of hue and cry was made when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore the controversial 10 lakh worth ‘bandhgala’ suit which had Modi’s name monogrammed all-over during the 65th Republic Day celebrations in the presence of the US Prez Barack Obama.
Modi’s critics and arch rivals ridiculed his megalomanic penchant for publicity. It was later revealed that a Surat-based diamond trader named Laljibhai Tulsibhai Patel had made the suit and gifted it to Modi.
Last year, Modi auctioned off the suit and it fetched a whopping Rs. 43,131,311 and has now made its way to the prestigious Guinness Book of World Records for being the most expensive suit ever auctioned.
