Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is on a winning streak with back-to-back hits. First came L2: Empuraan, which impressed at the box office, followed by Thudarum, a surprise blockbuster that quietly hit theatres but went on to become a massive success.
Thudarum has earned over ₹100 crore in Kerala alone and grossed a staggering ₹230 crore worldwide, making it one of the top three highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. The film is still running successfully in a few theatres even weeks after its release.
Originally slated for an OTT premiere in the third week of May, the release was postponed due to its strong theatrical run. The makers have now officially announced that Thudarum will stream on JioCinema from May 30.
Malayalam films are enjoying growing popularity across India, including among Telugu audiences, who often wait eagerly for their OTT releases. Though Thudarum was also dubbed and released in Telugu, it didn’t attract many viewers in theatres. However, anticipation is high for its digital debut.
A gripping thriller in the vein of Drishyam, Thudarum features Mohanlal in the role of a taxi driver whose son is kidnapped. What unfolds next is a tense, emotional rollercoaster. The film also stars veteran actress Shobana in a crucial role, adding further depth to the narrative.
