After making waves in Telugu cinema with Arjun Reddy and shaking up Bollywood through its Hindi remake Kabir Singh, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga elevated his game with Animal. While the film turned into a massive box office success, it also attracted sharp criticism from several Bollywood veterans, including lyricist Javed Akhtar. Though Sandeep stood by his film with a fierce defense, many admirers chose to remain silent fearing backlash.
However, Bollywood director Mohit Suri, known for romantic blockbusters like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain, has now openly expressed his admiration for Sandeep and Animal. During the promotions of his upcoming film Saiyaara, Mohit admitted in an interview that he is a huge fan of Sandeep’s work and was thoroughly impressed by Animal. He praised the unique style Sandeep showcased in every frame of the film.
Mohit further revealed that he had personally sent a message to Sandeep appreciating the film but refrained from publicly voicing his support at the time due to the prevailing negativity around it. Reflecting on that, Mohit acknowledged his silence as a mistake and publicly apologized to Sandeep for not standing up for him when it was needed.
He concluded by commending Sandeep as a sincere and passionate filmmaker who crafts his films with honesty and conviction.
