Renowned Telugu music director Chakri, 40, passed away following a massive heart-attack. Chakri breathed his last on Monday (Dec 15, 2014) in a private hospital. According to media reports, Chakri didn’t wake up from bed on morning despite repeated attempts by his wife Sravani. Suspecting something wrong, she immediately took him to nearby hospital where doctors pronounced his death at around 7.45 AM. Chakri had been suffering from Obesity and related ailments. Chakri’s untimely death has shaken the Telugu film industry.
His body is placed in AP Film Chamber for public-viewing. Chakri’s final rites will be performed today evening at Punjagutta Burial Ground. Known for his popular tunes like Idiot, Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi, Chakram, Devadasu, Simha, Desamuduru, and Jai Bolo Telangana, Chakri was an award-winning musician, singer. He received State government’s Nandi Award for his tunes in Simha. Debuted with Puri Jagannadh’s directorial Bachi in 2000, Chakri went on to compose music for over 85 films.
His combination with director Puri Jagannadh was considered as the most successful combination. Chakri’s last film was Erra Bus directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. Meanwhile, many other films of him like Rey are yet to be released. Born on June 15, 1974, Chakri was a native of Mahabubabad in Warangal district. Chakri’s father Gilla Venkata Narayana, singer and actor, too died of heart attack two years ago. He was considered as the soft-natured and friendly personality.
Chakri is survived by wife Sravani and children. It is learnt that the couple had a love marriage. Tollywood fraternity expressed its shock and grief over Chakri’s sudden demise. Telangana CM KCR condoled Chakri’s death and described that “a talented musician has gone too early at an young age.” Terming Chakri as “Telangana Bidda”, he recalled Chakri’s success.
