Mythri Shifts Focus to Small & Big Budget Films

Mythri Movie Makers is reportedly stepping away from producing mid-range films altogether. The banner feels that the current market conditions are no longer favourable for such projects, especially with the lukewarm audience response in theatres.

According to industry buzz, producers believe mid-budget films have become financially risky, as heroes in this range are unable to generate enough box office pull to recover costs. This has led the production house to reassess its strategy and exit this segment to avoid further losses.

Going forward, the banner is said to be focusing only on two ends of the spectrum — small-budget films made under ₹7 crore and big-scale star-driven projects with budgets above ₹100 crore. The team reportedly feels that the “middle zone” is no longer sustainable and is causing more financial strain than benefit.

As part of this shift, the previously planned project with Sharwanand and director Srinu Vaitla has also been dropped.

If more production houses follow a similar approach, it could significantly impact mid-range heroes in the industry. Their opportunities may shrink, forcing them to either opt for low-budget experimental films, explore OTT platforms, or reconsider their long-term career strategies.
