Nabil Gabol, a prominent political figure from Karachi’s Lyari region, has found himself at the center of controversy following the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
In the film, the character Jameel Jamali—played by Rakesh Bedi—is said to be loosely inspired by Gabol. Earlier, during the release of the first installment, Gabol had even acknowledged in a media interaction that the character drew from aspects of his persona.
However, the situation has now taken a different turn. After watching the sequel, where the character is portrayed as an Indian spy towards the climax, Gabol has strongly distanced himself from the depiction. He has reportedly stated that the film’s portrayal is fictional and does not reflect his real life in any manner.
Calling it a “distorted and misleading representation,” Gabol has expressed concern that some viewers—especially those accessing the film through unofficial means—might confuse fiction with reality. He fears this could damage his public image or even create unnecessary risks for him.
Meanwhile, the controversy has gained traction on social media in Pakistan, with some platforms even claiming that Gabol is under stress due to the backlash. Despite the noise, his stance remains clear: the character on screen is not him, and any resemblance should not be taken seriously.
