Janasena had a crucial regrouping event yesterday as party president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan held a plenary meeting in Pithapuram. The event witnessed the presence of key Janasena leaders, including Naga Babu, Kandula Durgesh, Konathala Ramakrishna, and others.
However, a particular statement made by Naga Babu has stirred controversy among TDP supporters.
While addressing the audience, Naga Babu spoke about Pawan Kalyan’s historic victory in Pithapuram, stating,
“There are only two factors that led to Kalyan’s victory—our president Kalyan himself and the unwavering support of Janasainiks and the people of Pithapuram. If anyone else believes they were responsible for this win, it is their ‘karma’.”
This remark quickly triggered reactions, as many perceived it as a veiled dig at SVSN Varma, a TDP leader who played a crucial role in Kalyan’s election campaign. It is well known that Pawan Kalyan himself acknowledged Varma’s efforts, stating that he had entrusted his campaign to him. Even after winning, Kalyan publicly credited Varma’s contributions.
At a time when the TDP-Janasena alliance is progressing smoothly, Naga Babu’s remark has left many TDP supporters disappointed. They feel he could have limited his speech to praising Kalyan’s victory rather than making an indirect comment that appeared to downplay Varma’s role.
The timing of this statement has further complicated matters. Naga Babu was recently nominated as an MLC, with Nara Lokesh personally signing the approval. Additionally, there is growing speculation that Naga Babu could soon be inducted into the cabinet, with even the TDP letterhead confirming his inclusion. Given this context, TDP supporters believe his statement was unnecessary and could have been avoided.
Notably, Pawan Kalyan himself had recently lauded Chandrababu Naidu, stating that he should lead the state’s progress from the forefront. Meanwhile, Naga Babu, who previously made satirical remarks about Naidu, Lokesh, and Balakrishna, had mellowed down after the alliance and even expressed gratitude for his MLC nomination. However, his “karma” comment at this juncture has sparked fresh tensions, leaving TDP circles questioning the intent behind his words.
