Naga Vamsi Opens Up on Guntur Kaaram Backlash

Guntur Kaaram, one of the most high-profile collaborations between director Trivikram Srinivas and superstar Mahesh Babu, faced unexpected criticism on social media following its theatrical release. Producer Naga Vamsi, speaking candidly about the film’s reception, expressed his surprise over the intense trolling the movie received in its initial days.

“I don’t know why the film was trolled so heavily on social media during the first couple of days. Perhaps we were too emotionally attached to it to anticipate that kind of reaction,” Vamsi remarked. He acknowledged that while criticism is a part of the industry, the level of negativity was unexpected, especially for a project they deeply believed in.

Vamsi also admitted that the decision to hold a 1 a.m. premiere may have been a misstep. While such timings are typically reserved for action-packed commercial films, he noted that Guntur Kaaram, with its emotional and family-oriented narrative, may not have been best suited for such an unconventional release strategy. This, he believes, might have impacted the initial family audience turnout.

Addressing speculation about Mahesh Babu’s influence on the film, Vamsi firmly denied that the project was controlled solely by the actor. He emphasized the collaborative nature of the filmmaking process, stating that both Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas were equally involved in shaping the screenplay, tone, and emotional core of the film.

Despite the mixed reception, Vamsi stood by the film and its creative choices. He appreciated the honest feedback from fans and reiterated that the team gave their best effort. His transparent and grounded reflections have been widely appreciated by fans and industry observers alike.
