Naidu Stands Exposed On NREGS Funds

Former chief minister and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu stood exposed on the other day, when he rallied all the contractors of the NREGS works, whose bills are not paid yet.

Shockingly, the contractors were all from the TDP, who enjoyed the contracts during the last five years.

Most of them have served as sarpanches, or MPTCs or ZPTCs from the TDP and have become contractors for the NREGS works in their respective areas.

Naidu rallied them together in the TDP State office in Guntur, where he said that the government has to pay their bills worth Rs 2,460 crore dues.

The TDP chief addressed them at the meeting and accused the YSR Congress government of not paying the bills.

The NREGS bills, though the contracts were enjoyed by the TDP men, is one of the failures that the TDP chief had to his credit in the last five years.

Naidu did not complete the farmers’ loan waiver in five years and wants the YSR Congress government to complete it by paying the last fourth and fifth instalments.

The TDP chief did not pay the annuity to the farmers who have given their lands in pooling for the capital Amaravati. There were about Rs 780 crore dues pending and Naidu wants that amount to be paid.

The TDP chief also did not pay Rs 500 crore monthly pension to the landless families in Amaravati where the lands were taken in pooling. The amount was due for these landless people for the past two years.

The NREGS bills to the contractors, besides the bills to other contractors, including those in Amaravati, were also not cleared by the TDP government, despite availing huge amount of loans from various banks.

The present YSR Congress government is struggling to get loans from the banks as the TDP government had borrowed beyond the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRMB) Act 2003.
