Naidu Warns TDP MLAs Amid Aravind Babu Protest Row

N. Chandrababu Naidu, TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, has once again expressed concern over the behavior of some party MLAs, who continue to draw criticism for their high-handed attitude towards officials despite repeated warnings.

Reports suggest that instances of unruly conduct by TDP legislators are increasingly reaching the Chief Minister’s office, affecting the party’s public image. Even media outlets often seen as supportive of the party have reportedly flagged these issues, but there appears to be little change on the ground.

Naidu made indirect remarks on the issue while speaking at a pension distribution programme in Vinjamuru, Nellore district. Without naming anyone initially, he noted that “some people are losing patience these days” and hinted that exposure to certain television and crime-based content might be influencing such behavior.

His comments were widely seen as a reference to the controversy involving Narasaraopet MLA Chadalawada Aravind Babu, whose protest at the Palnadu district Superintendent of Police (SP) office has sparked widespread debate.

The incident unfolded when the MLA staged a protest over the non-approval of a candidate he had recommended for the post of district police legal advisor. He reportedly remained inside the SP office for nearly 10 hours, insisting that the appointment be finalized.

During the standoff, he is said to have argued with officials and escalated the situation by locking himself inside a bathroom, refusing to come out until the order was issued. Senior officials, including IG Sarvashrestha Tripathi, and other leaders attempted to resolve the situation, but initial efforts were unsuccessful.

The deadlock was eventually resolved after assurances were given that the appointment process would be completed within 24 hours. Following this, the MLA left the premises late in the evening.

The episode has since become a major talking point in Andhra Pradesh, raising concerns about the conduct of elected representatives and putting the spotlight back on internal discipline within the TDP.
