Naidu’s Bold Move Turns Tables on YSRCP

Chandrababu Naidu delivered a sharp political blow to Jagan Mohan Reddy with a quiet yet powerful move that stunned the YSRCP. Without creating much noise, Naidu dismantled two of YSRCP’s key narratives, leaving the opposition scrambling for a response. Over the last five years, Jagan proudly highlighted his government’s Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes as a major achievement. But now, Naidu has flipped the script by targeting two sensitive and politically significant areas — and doing so decisively.

One of the most pressing issues was the welfare of fishermen during the seasonal fishing ban. This two-month period every summer has long been used by YSRCP to show support through financial assistance. When the alliance government took over, the delay in addressing this left room for criticism. But Naidu swiftly announced financial aid of ₹20,000 per fisherman under the Matsyakara Bharosa scheme — a move that not only responded to their needs but doubled the previous amount given under Jagan’s rule.

The second move was aimed at resolving the controversy around the pastors’ honorarium. During YSRCP’s tenure, eligible Christian pastors received ₹5,000 per month. After the new government came to power, this scheme was put on the backburner, inviting backlash from the opposition. In a sudden yet impactful decision, Naidu cleared pending dues by releasing ₹30 crore late Thursday night, effectively putting an end to the criticism.

With these two timely and tactical decisions, Naidu turned the tables on YSRCP and reclaimed the narrative. What makes the move even more impressive is the silence with which it was executed — giving no time for YSRCP to respond or politicize. It was a clear example of political strategy at its finest, showing that sometimes quiet actions speak louder than loud promises.
