Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday ridiculed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for giving a “build-up” on Kolleru lake contour issue in the Assembly.
During a debate on reduction of Kolleru Contours to three from five on the last day of the Assembly session here, Jagan alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had pressed his “henchmen” to impress the House with “cock and bull” stories on the issue.
“Why didn’t Naidu take up the issue during his nine-year rule?” he asked. Jagan recalled that the Centre had already accepted a similar move of unanimous resolution made by then chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in 2008.
“There is nothing new in what the Chief Minister Naidu has moved now,” he said, adding that he would extend support to the proposal meant for welfare of West Godavari people.
Later, the Chief Minister said the resolution will prove handy to the people as the government was ready to take up welfare schemes. Later, the House passed a unanimous resolution urging the Centre on the proposal.
