Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, widely recognized for transforming Hyderabad into a leading IT hub, now aims to replicate this success in Vizag. Known for his vision in driving Hyderabad’s IT sector, including the creation of Hi-Tech City and the attraction of tech giants like Microsoft, Naidu is now focused on turning Visakhapatnam into a technology hub.
Alongside the development of Amaravati as a world-class city, Naidu plans to build a state-of-the-art Data City in Madhurawada, which will host a variety of data centers and Artificial Intelligence (AI) hubs. The project, spread across 500 acres, will be modeled after Hyderabad’s Hi-Tech City and is expected to become the heart of the region’s IT industry.
Land acquisition for the project is already underway, with major companies like Google set to receive 80 acres for their data center, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will be allocated 30 acres for its expansion.
While Hi-Tech City was Naidu’s brainchild, the Data City concept is said to have originated from his son, Lokesh Naidu. During a recent trip to Davos, Lokesh engaged with Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar to explore potential investments in the project. Additionally, Naidu and Lokesh held discussions with Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, inviting him to invest in the growth of Hyderabad’s tech ecosystem.
The Andhra Pradesh government is actively working to attract leading IT companies to invest in the Data City, with plans to position it as the future center of the technology sector in the region.
