Nannaku Prematho Movie Review

Story:

Ramesh Chandra Prasad (Rajendra Prasad) is a London based Businessman who is a stalwart in business but tumbles to Kaultilya Krishna Murthy (Jagapathi Babu). Abhiraam (NTR), Ramesh Chandra Prasad’s son sets out for revenge for the cheating his father. Abhiraam woos Krishna Murthy’s father, Divyanka (Rakul Preet Singh) for his revenge mission. What happens next forms the next.

Performances:

First things first, NTR’s complete transformation right from his physique to styling is mind blowing. NTR came up with a settled performance from the Young Tiger. The emotional appeal towards the end of the film, is best for the actor in the film. However it does not have a great impact, as the scene lacks that depth. It is good but still very far from Tarak’s recent best – Temper.

Rakul Preet Singh can boast of a meaty role. She gets to act as well. Her efforts to dub in her own voice is really appreciable but at one point, it gets irritating. Jagapathi Babu is superb as villain but his character can be etched even better. Rajendra Prasad makes an impact even in a short role. Comedy gang is okay. Avasarala Srinivas and Rajiv Kanakala are okay in their little roles. Rest of them have very limited time.

Technical Performances:

Sukumar, the captain of the ship has a mixed bag with this film. He got the superficial parts of the film well but there are some glaring mistakes. Firstly the story has lot of influences including Tamil blockbuster, Thani Oruvan. Sukumar’s previous film, 1-Nenokkadine failed due to screenplay and he made amends about it in this film. But the major problem with Nannaku Prematho is his writing. The script gives a great chance for wonderful emotions but Sukumar falls short.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is good and the effect gets bigger due to good songs placement and picturization. The rerecording is good as well. Editing such films is difficult but is kept well. The movie is still some 140+ minutes long. Camera work is sensational. Dialogues carry impact.

Plus Points:

  • NTR
  • Interval and climax
  • Songs visuals

Minus Points:

  • Too many repetitive moments
  • Love scenes between lead pair

Final Say:

Nannaku Prematho is definitely a decent film but falls short of a great film. An extra effort from Sukumar in terms of writing could have made sure it crossed the mark. But there are glitches all over. However the movie can be definitely tried for the good moments it has.
