At the India Today South Conclave 2025, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh shared his vision on education reforms, skill development, and national politics, while underlining the harmony between Telugu pride and national unity.
Lokesh strongly endorsed the National Education Policy’s three-language formula, stressing that the mother tongue should be the true foundation of learning. He clarified that Hindi is not mandatory under the policy and urged states not to politicize language education. “I am a product of three languages. Let’s focus on learning, not politics,” he said.
Explaining his father Chandrababu Naidu’s vision, Lokesh introduced the idea of a “Skill Census, not Caste Census.” He announced the launch of Andhra Pradesh’s Naipunyam Portal, which will map citizens’ skills to connect them with training programs, industries, and employment opportunities. He also highlighted reforms such as promoting gender diversity in textbooks and curriculum, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a state moving toward a talent-driven economy.
On the political front, Lokesh reaffirmed that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will continue its alliance with the NDA beyond 2029, offering unconditional support. He described the partnership as a long-term commitment to India’s growth and stability, stating, “For us, Bharat comes first.”
Addressing the question of identity, Lokesh emphasized that Telugu pride and Indian pride go hand in hand. He reiterated that “Bharat First” will remain the guiding philosophy of the TDP and extended support to the NDA’s Vice President candidate in line with that principle.
Through his remarks, Lokesh positioned education, skills, and unity as the three pillars shaping the future of both Andhra Pradesh and India.
