Nara Lokesh’s Davos Push Signals a New Investment Momentum for Andhra Pradesh

Share

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh emerged as a key dealmaker during the recent World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Davos, Switzerland, demonstrating a notably proactive and hands-on approach to global investor engagement. Over the course of four intensive days, Lokesh participated in 45 programmes and held 25 one-on-one meetings with top business leaders, underscoring the state’s renewed focus on accelerating investment inflows.

The highlight of the visit was a major commitment from RMZ Real Estate and Infrastructure, which confirmed an investment of approximately ₹90,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh as part of a broader $10 billion plan. This adds to the ₹2.5 lakh crore worth of investments secured during the previous Davos engagement—projects that have since moved into the execution phase, with further materialisation expected in the near term.

What set this Davos visit apart was Lokesh’s emphasis on the “speed of doing business.” Rather than prioritising headline-grabbing MoUs, he focused on deeper conceptual alignment with companies, laying the groundwork for long-term, executable investments. This strategy mirrors the trajectory of earlier engagements, where companies such as Google and Accenture translated discussions into tangible projects following the 2025 Davos summit.

With expectations that the current outreach could potentially double the investment tally achieved at Davos 2025, Andhra Pradesh appears poised for a significant economic push. The contrast with the past—when the state had an IT minister hesitant to participate in global platforms like Davos—highlights a clear shift in approach. Lokesh’s assertive global outreach signals a new phase in Andhra Pradesh’s investment narrative, one driven by execution, credibility, and sustained engagement.
