With artificial intelligence becoming a dominant force in the global tech landscape, concerns about its impact on the human workforce are growing by the day. As automation and machine learning continue to evolve rapidly, the fear of job displacement has become a common topic of discussion — especially within technological sectors.
Addressing this critical concern head-on, Andhra Pradesh IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh shared his thoughts during a recent summit focused on AI’s growing role in industries. Rather than painting a doomsday scenario, Lokesh offered a grounded and insightful perspective.
“I disagree with the idea that AI will wipe out jobs. If you look back in history, every industrial revolution has ultimately created more jobs than it replaced. The key, however, is that these jobs emerged in places that were prepared to embrace change,” Lokesh noted.
He emphasized that the current shift brought on by AI and quantum computing is no different. The challenge is not in stopping the revolution — but in preparing for it. “That’s my job as HRD and Education Minister — to design courses and curriculum that make Andhra Pradesh’s youth ready for this wave,” he added.
Lokesh’s forward-thinking attitude reflects a much-needed proactive stance. Rather than resisting the AI movement, he is choosing to adapt, innovate, and ensure that the youth of Andhra Pradesh are equipped with the skills required to thrive in this evolving landscape.
At a time when many leaders are still grappling with the uncertainties of artificial intelligence, Lokesh is setting an example with his vigilance, strategic foresight, and commitment to upskilling. His balanced approach — acknowledging the risks while preparing for the opportunities — makes him a standout figure in the conversation around AI and employment.
