Nara Rohith is back in a completely new avatar with Sundarakanda, an out-and-out slice-of-life entertainer directed by Venkatesh Nimmalapudi. As revealed in the teaser, Rohith plays a mid-30s unmarried man on a fun-filled quest to find his life partner—a role packed with humor and relatable moments.
In the current scenario, securing strong digital deals has become a challenge, particularly for small and medium-budget films. However, Sundarakanda has managed to strike impressive business even before release.
The popular streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar has acquired both the OTT and satellite rights for a whopping ₹9 crore. Interestingly, the platform finalized the deal after its representatives watched the film and were impressed by the output. The movie went through three evaluation screenings starting from February, consistently earning top marks before receiving the green signal.
Additionally, the Hindi dubbing and audio rights brought in another ₹3 crore, taking the total non-theatrical business to ₹12 crore. This strong pre-release business has boosted confidence in the film ahead of its theatrical debut.
Produced by Santhosh Chinnapolla, Gowtham Reddy, and Rakesh Mahankalli, Sundarakanda is all set to hit screens on August 27th.
