Songs have always played a significant role in Telugu cinema, and even today, filmmakers occasionally revisit the tradition of adding numbers after release to enhance the viewing experience. Pawan Kalyan’s latest film They Call Him OG, which opened in theatres on Thursday, is following this path.
Directed by Sujeeth, the film has been receiving strong word of mouth from audiences, with Pawan Kalyan winning praise for his intense action-packed performance. The ensemble cast includes Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, and Prakash Raj. Music is composed by Thaman S, while DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari have produced the film under DVV Entertainments.
Ahead of its release, expectations were high for Neha Shetty’s special number, shot in Bangkok in December 2024. The actress herself had teased glimpses from the shoot on social media, which further fueled anticipation. However, the song was missing in the theatrical cut, surprising fans.
Composer Thaman clarified that the decision was made because the song disrupted the film’s narrative flow. Later, the team reworked its presentation and decided to reintroduce it. The track will officially be added to screenings starting Monday.
Meanwhile, the makers are gearing up for a grand success meet in Hyderabad on Wednesday. With positive reception at the box office and Neha Shetty’s special appearance now set to enrich the film, They Call Him OG is expected to maintain its strong run in theatres.
