Dhanush Faces ₹20 Cr Legal Notice Over ‘Naan Rudran’

Versatile Kollywood star Dhanush, who currently has multiple projects at various stages of production, has reportedly landed in a legal controversy with one of Tamil cinema’s prominent production houses. The development has quickly become a major talking point in industry circles.
According to reports, Thenandal Films has served a legal notice to Dhanush, alleging that he failed to honor a professional commitment made nearly a decade ago. The banner has reportedly sought compensation of ₹20 crores, claiming financial losses due to the shelving of a project titled Naan Rudran.
As per the notice issued through the producer’s legal counsel, Dhanush had agreed in 2016 not only to headline the film but also to direct it. The project was announced with considerable buzz and was expected to be a high-profile venture. However, despite several rounds of discussions and adjustments reportedly made to accommodate Dhanush’s preferences, the film never progressed beyond the planning stage.
The production house claims it incurred substantial expenses during pre-production, including advances paid and funds spent on onboarding notable actors such as Nagarjuna and SJ Suryah, who were allegedly considered for key roles. The complaint further states that Dhanush did not allocate dates for the film over the years and instead prioritized other acting commitments.
The makers have reportedly warned of further legal action if the matter is not resolved within the stipulated timeframe mentioned in the notice.
As of now, neither Dhanush nor his team has issued an official statement regarding the allegations. Meanwhile, the actor remains occupied with several upcoming projects across industries, even as this legal dispute continues to generate widespread discussion.
