Nithin’s ‘Sankranthi’ Title Sparks Debate
Hero Nithin is once again going through a tough phase at the box office, with a string of films failing to make an impact. From Extra Ordinary to the recent Tammudu, the actor hasn’t managed to score a solid commercial hit, putting him under pressure to bounce back strongly.
In an attempt to turn things around, Nithin is reportedly teaming up with Anji, the director of the successful debut film Aay, which performed well in theatres. According to buzz in film circles, their upcoming project is being planned as a festive entertainer, with the rumored title “Sankranthi Subhakankshalu.” The film is said to be targeting a Sankranthi season release in Tollywood.
However, the speculated title has already sparked discussion. With films like Sankranthi and the recent Sankranthiki Vastunnam associated with Venkatesh, some feel that using a similar festival-based title may not appear fresh or original. There’s a perception that such naming could come across as repetitive rather than innovative, especially when multiple films try to capitalize on the festive sentiment.
At a time when Nithin desperately needs a strong comeback, relying purely on seasonal branding may not be enough. While Sankranthi releases traditionally enjoy festive advantage, content ultimately plays the decisive role. That said, it is still early days, and the makers have not officially confirmed the title.
