Recalling a significant moment from his early career, Vidyarthi shared how he was completely penniless after winning the National Award for his performance in Droh Kaal in 1995. Despite his tight finances, he was expected to host a celebratory party for his industry friends. The venue chosen was Mainland China, a restaurant he had never dined at and had only seen from the outside.

When the day arrived, the party took an unexpected turn: even teetotalers were drinking, and vegetarians were requesting non-vegetarian dishes. To keep costs down, Vidyarthi chose to have only a simple glass of water with a slice of lemon. Feeling anxious about the bill, he was relieved when director Govind Nihalani graciously stepped in to pay for the entire event—a gesture Vidyarthi still remembers with gratitude.
