The support for this proposal has grown immensely after Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar told in his recent meeting for United AP that Hyderabad need to be made second capital of the country as suggested by the architect of Indian constitution. He expressed the feeling no other proposal would do equal justice to both the regions in the current scenario.
Dr BR Ambedkar wrote in his book: “The feeling of the Southern people is that the Capital of their country is far away from them and that they are being ruled by the people of Northern India. Hyderabad fulfils all the requirements of a capital for India and it is equidistant to all states. From the defence point of view it would give safety to the Central Government.”
A delegation of Union Ministers from Seemandhra region suggested the Congress high command to consider 2nd capital proposal too along with the options of Hyderabad as Union Territory or Permanent Joint Capital of Andhra and Telangana regions. They demanded the Centre to vote for any one of these proposals, else asked it to get ready for facing the ire of the people.
