Chennai, one of the culturally most significant cities in India, was severely battered by the incessant rainfall that caused heavy floods and brought the entire city and several areas in Tamil Nadu to a complete halt. However, Chennaiites showed courage and bounced back to normalcy within a week after the rains stopped.
Now, 2015 is coming to an end in a couple of days and Chennaiites are looking forward to ringing in the welcome bells with hearts filled with hope. Already, several star hotels, upscale and middle scale restaurants at fast selling the event tickets for the 31st night celebrations. Most of these tickets are prices anywhere between Rs 350 to Rs 7,000, but that didn’t deter the spirited Chennaites.
On the other hand, people from several badly hit areas which were ravaged by the floods will observe a muted new year’s eve since their normal lives are yet to be restored completely. Event organizers lament that the sale of tickets has seen a steep decline this year in several areas.
Well, those who cannot go all out to celebrate the new year’s eve may just light a candle to ward off the darkness 2015 brought into their lives and welcome a bright and colorful new year.
