In a horrific incident, a minor deaf and mute girl was raped in a bus in Vizag. The victim, who is hearing and speech impaired, was raped in a private travel bus. Although the incident occurred on December 30, 2017 (Saturday) afternoon, it came to light very late (Jan 3) only after the girl’s family approached the police.
According to police, SEZ private travel bus driver C Viswanathan raped the girl inside the bus on December 30 in the premises of VSEZ (Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone), where the girl was working as a gardener.
After raping the victim, the driver allegedly threatened the victim to keep quiet and not to reveal the incident to anyone.
However, the victim’s family came to know about the incident after observing some physical disabilities in her.
Following the complaint from girl’s parents, police has registered a case under Nirbhaya Act, SC/ST Act and POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. A probe has been launched by police.
