Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly, widely known for his acclaimed performances in Premam and Action Hero Biju, has been booked by the Thalayolaparambu police in Kerala following a complaint filed by film producer P.S. Shamnas. The case also names director Abrid Shine as a co-accused.

An FIR has been registered under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code. According to the complaint, the dispute stems from financial commitments linked to their 2022 film Mahaveeryar, which reportedly incurred losses. Shamnas alleged that Nivin had agreed to compensate him with ₹95 lakh and further promised to include him as a production partner in the upcoming sequel Action Hero Biju 2, to be helmed by Abrid Shine.

Shamnas claims he subsequently invested ₹1.90 crore in Action Hero Biju 2 based on Nivin’s assurances. However, he alleges that Nivin and Abrid Shine independently struck a ₹5 crore distribution deal with a Dubai-based company, presenting the project under Nivin’s banner, thereby sidelining Shamnas’s company, Indian Movie Makers, which had officially registered the film.

In response, Nivin Pauly has stated that the matter has already been under arbitration since June 28 and that a gag order has been issued to ensure confidentiality of proceedings. The actor also assured his supporters that he would pursue legal remedies to address the allegations.

On the professional front, Nivin Pauly is gearing up for the release of Sarvam Maya, as well as another yet-to-be-titled project featuring Mamitha Baiju.
