Malayalam cinema is eagerly awaiting the release of one of its most anticipated films, L2E: Empuraan, scheduled to hit screens on March 27. With the promotional campaign in full swing, discussions are now emerging about whether the film could be remade in Telugu—just like its predecessor, Lucifer.
Megastar Chiranjeevi previously remade Lucifer in Telugu as Godfather, which was a decent success but didn’t replicate the massive impact of the original. However, the possibility of a Telugu remake for the sequel now appears highly unlikely.
Historically, no film and its sequel have ever been remade in another language, and Empuraan seems no exception. Given that Godfather only achieved moderate success, Chiranjeevi is unlikely to consider remaking the sequel. Moreover, Mohanlal himself addressed this speculation, stating that a Telugu remake would be challenging due to key missing characters in Godfather that are central to Empuraan’s storyline.
With these factors in play, it appears that Empuraan will remain exclusive to its original form, without a Telugu adaptation in sight.
