After a brief lull, the exodus of political leaders into Telangana Rashtra Samithi has begun once again, thanks to the massive victory registered by the TRS in Warangal Lok Sabha by-elections. Obviously, the leaders have realised that the Congress has not been able to pick up its strength due to weak leadership and the Telugu Desam Party-BJP combine has absolutely no scope to come to power in Telangana at all. So, in the given circumstances, the TRS is the best bet for political survival. On Thursday, several political leaders from Khammam district announced their desire to join the ruling TRS on November 28. M Uma, chairperson of Illandu Municipality said she would be joining the ruling party for development.
Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswahar Rao led the team comprising MLA K Kanakaiah, former MLC Balashouri, Uma and her husband and others called on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at camp office on Thursday. Talking to the media later, Uma said they are joining the ruling party as they were attracted by the multiple welfare schemes and developmental programs. “With a great hope on the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and minister from Khammam Tummala Nageshwar Rao to develop my region, I am going to join the ruling party”, Uma stated. Some 20 councillors and MPTCs are likely to join the TRS on November 28.
