In a counter to Facebook’s’buy’ feature, one of the world’s most popular social networking platforms, Twitter, has now introduced a ‘buy’ button which allows Twitter users to purchase goods directly from Twitter. The social networking giant has successfully tested the ‘buy’ feature in the US last year, and now made it available for its global users and companies for business exchange.
In this new feature, all the companies which sign up to avail the buy option will now be entitled to add the buy button to their tweets, which the users can simply click and buy. However, the users have to save their address and card details on Twitter to make instant payments. Twitter partnered with Stripe, a payments startup company to enhance its reach across the global markets.
To make a purchase on Twitter, users need to click on the ‘buy’ button embedded into the brands’ tweets. A pop-up window appears which asks the buyers to review the product details and then enter the address and payment information. Buyers will also get a confirmation of their order from Twitter. The buy button is currently available on Twitter’s desktop version and the iOS and Android apps.
