An Indian-origin man in the US was stabbed to death allegedly by his cousin in New York.According to the police, Sharanjit Singh (26) was stabbed by his cousin Lovedeep Singh (24) in the neck and torso, following an altercation inside their apartment in New York City borough Queens in the early hours of June 26.
Lovedeep has been charged with second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned before Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday. Queens District Attorney said Lovedeep is accused of “senselessly stabbing his cousin to death”. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years to life in prison.
Sharanjit Singh moved to the US in 2013. He had been working as a driver in the US. The exact motive for the murder is yet to be known.
