Once he was No 2 in the Telugu Desam Party and seen as next to Chandrababu Naidu. He served as Home Minister in the Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP government in the United Andhra Pradesh. A strong leader from BC community and from Telangana region, Devender Goud had been off from media glare for a while raising several speculations.
Of late, Devender Goud is neither active in TDP activities or social events. Party sources said that it’s been a while he visited NTR Bhavan. Though reports are rife that he was not healthy like before, but the exact reasons behind his ‘missing’ in action are it that he is not happy with Mr Naidu’s new quotary.
Apparently Devender Goud is of the opinion that party is giving importance to businessmen, corporate than for the leaders who worked for the party for decades on ground. Also, Devender was reportedly miffed that the party didn’t allot Uppal seat to his son Veerender which led to his defeat in the general elections.
In fact, he was not even so active during the separate statehood moment in Telangana. After formation of the new state of Telangana, Devender Goud appears to become close to CM KCR. He advised KCR on the formation of new districts in Telangana. Then reports were rife that he would join TRS. But later, he has gone into oblivion.
Presently, Devender Goud is busy spending time in BC community office in New Delhi and looking after various issues related to the community. He is working on bringing a website on BCs.
