Padma Bhushan to kamal hassan

Universal Hero Kamal Hassan is conferred with Padma Bhushan. This is great respect for one of all time legendary actors of India. Making his debut as a child actor in the 1959 Tamil film Kalathur Kannamma, he won the President’s Gold Medal for his performance. In 1973, Kamal landed in his first adult role, Arangetram, directed by K. Balachander, whom the actor considers his mentor. So far, he has acted in over 200 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali and Kannada. In his long 55 years of career, apart from acting, Kamal Hassan is noted for his involvement in other aspects of filmmaking like direction, production, choreography, script writer, stunt master, lyric and dialogue writer.

Kamal Hassan was noted for his performance in Mani Ratnam’s Nayagan (Nayakudu in Telugu), rated by Time magazine as one of the best films in cinema history. Kamal faced tough time during release of his dream project ‘Viswaroopam’ due to political pressures. The movie had won critical acclaims as well as made remarkable business. Now, sequel for the movie titled Viswaroopam 2 is getting ready to release in April. Kamal Hassan won many awards in his career and another is adding to the list now.
