Telugu Lecturer Behind ‘Aagadu’ Dialogues

Right from the beginning, Aagadu dialogues are packing a punch. Though they are good in rhyme, meaning and relevance, somehow certain dialogues looked over the board but still Mahesh’s terrific uttering, timing and modulation-style clicked them big time. Writers Upendra Madhav and Anil Ravipudi are the two able creators who penned such ‘grandhikam’ laced Rayalaseema style dialogues for Mahesh Babu in Aaagadu.

Also Sreenu Vytla too penned many dialogues, as he is an expert at punch-dialogues. However, all these dialogues couldn’t be understood if one doesn’t hail from pure Telugu background, as some words dug deep into some formal language written in classic literature.

To avoid cutting-out or leaving-in any dialogue from the movie without having proper understanding of it, it is heard that Censor officials took help of a Telugu lecturer. Because some dialogues sounded like ‘boothu’ for Censor board but producers defended them as good words spoken in Rayalaseema area. To clarify the issue, a Telugu lecture has helped, and finally passed all dialogues with just fewer cuts.

As speculated widely, the Hyderabad Metro project is all set to hang in balance with reports that the state government of Telangana is not pleased with many of the political remarks which were made against Telangana state in the letter wriiten by L&T Metro Rail managing director V.B. Gadgil. It is a known fact that this letter has been leaked to media on Wednesday.

Sources say that Chief Minister KCR has reportedly directed the officials to make a strong protest against Gadgil’s remarks against Telangana state formation. KCR is also very much upset how the letter mentioned Hyderabad losing its significance without AP and also reportedly asked them to pursue this issue with the top management of L&T, seeking strict action against Gadgil for his unwanted political overtones.

KCR feels that Mr Gadgil’s remarks against Telangana state and Hyderabad city were totally uncalled for which had nothing related to the Metro project. There are even rumours that KCR himself countered Gadgil on Wednesday when they had a meeting!

Where Is Heroine Tamanna Bhatia?

For any movie, star heroine Tamanna is one actress who never misses the chance to attend pre-release promotions and release day interviews is not seen anywhere when it comes to ‘Aagadu’. After looking at the movie today, many will feel that all those rumors in existence hold true about her absence.

Gossip mills have always maintained that milky beauty is unhappy with the way her character ‘Sweet Shop Saroja’ was shaped in ‘Aagadu’. Initially Sreenu Vytla was heard promising a role like Shruti Haasan’s Bhagyalakshmi in Gabbar Singh. But it turned up like a damp squib as her character is no where part of story, but just inserted for ‘glamour’ sake.

Though time and again, Sreenu Vaitla quashed these rumors as baseless, Aagadu proved that Tamanna’s worry is true as her character got no big attention. We have to see if she attends any post-release promotions at least, explaining her absence.

Deepika Padukone’s Stunning Post on CLEAVAGE Row

News that was reported on leading daily about star heroine Deepika Padukone and her cleavage show created sensation.Deepika found fault with her picture taken from an awkward angle which appeared in a leading news daily.

She posted the screenshot of the photo which was captioned with OMG : Deepika Padukone’s cleavage show. The actress retaliated furiously on social media tweeting, “YES!I am a Woman.I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??’ Deepika Padukone found immediate support from different persons in Twitter.

Today Deepika posted a long clarification regarding the issue and she took dig at media for being irresponsible Deepika’s Statement:

My Point of View…

There is only ONE sign that a woman wants to have sex and that is that she says “YES”. The reason I write the above line is because we all know that in India we are so desperately trying to make a change in the way sections of our society think in order to move towards a happier world devoid of inequality, rape, fear and pain. I am not naive about my own profession; it is one that requires lots of demanding things of me.

A character may demand that I be clothed from head to toe or be completely naked, and it will be my choice as an actor whether or not I take either. Understand that this is a ROLE and not REAL, and it is my job to portray whatever character I choose to play convincingly. What my concern is and I am stating it clearly so it is not misconstrued or confused with Shahrukh’s 8-pack or any other woman’s or man’s anatomy. I have spoken out against an ideology that such regressive tactics are still being employed to draw a reader’s attention at a time when we are striving for women’s equality and empowerment.

In a time where women should be applauded for making headway in a male-dominated society,we blur the lines between REEL and REAL life and dilute all our efforts by making a one-year old back sliding piece of news a headline. Digging out an old article and headlining it “OMG: Deepika’s Cleavage Show!” to attract readers is using the power of influence to proliferate recessive thought.
When an actresses inner wear decides to do a “peek-a-boo”,she most definitely did not step out with the intention to do so.So instead of zooming in,circling it and pointing arrows at it,why don’t we give her some ‘respect’ and let it go instead of making it ‘headlines’!?

Are we not human?Yes we marvel, envy and drool over a male actors 8pack abs in a film, but do we zoom in on the mans ‘crotch’ when he makes a public appearance and make that ‘cheap headlines’??!! I have no issue celebrating my body and I have never shied away from anything on-screen to portray a character. In fact my next character portrayed is a bar dancer (sorry Farah for the spoiler!) who titillates men as a means to support her livelihood. My issue is you propagating the objectification of a REAL person, and not a character being played. Sure, dissect my characters if you wish-if it is of so much interest then discuss the character’s cup size and leg length if it is relevant to making the role convincing.

All I am asking for is respect as a woman off-screen. It is not about breasts, penises,or any other body part being reported. It is a matter of context and how out-of-context the reportage is just to sell a headline. And more so during a time in dire need of an attitude shift towards women. For me this topic ends here.Everyone is entitled to an opinion.I have little interest to take this further as it might get more attention than it deserves and might be further misconstrued and twisted to sell more undeserved headlines.

Having said that, please may we show love, dignity and respect to each other. Live well, laugh often and love much.

Aagadu Movie Review

The Most Awaited Telugu Movie of The Year, Aagadu is out in theaters now. Superstar Mahesh Babu and Sensational Director Srinu Vaitla have delivered blockbuster Dookudu in their first attempt. So the expectations on this Duo’s second film were at peaks. Did Srinu Vaitla pull off another magical entertainer with Mahesh? Did Aagadu live up to the hype?

Story :
Encounter Shankar (Mahesh) takes charge as Circle Inspector in Bukkapatnam. He starts teaching a lesson or two to everybody that is doing illegal activities in that village. Shankar comes to know that he lost his brother because of the local rowdy (Sonu Sood). Now Shankar plays mind games with him and uses Dilli Babu (Brahmanandam) for that purpose.

Performances:
Mahesh Babu:
Mahesh Babu is a sheer delight to watch. He just rocked the screen with his superb screen presence and handsome looks. His attitude and dialogue delivery as arrogant cop is outstanding. He stole the show in each and every frame that he is present. His impeccable comic timing and body language will keep you entertained throughout the film. He has carried off the film on his shoulders in spite of average script. His dances come in as a surprise.

Tamanna:
Tamanna has a very limited role and has nothing to do except for dancing in the songs. She did well within her limitations.

Others:
Sonu Sood as the main villain is just okay. Brahmanandam makes an entry in the second half and his comedy works in parts. His dance sequence where he imitates NTR, Charan, Mahesh and Allu Arjun is funny. Rajendra Prasad has a dignified role and Nasser did an unusual character. Vennela Kishore, Raghu Babu, Posani Krishna Murali and others have done their bit. Shruti Haasan sizzled in the item song.

Technicalities:
Direction:
Srinu Vaitla tried to do something different from what he usually does. His efforts to move away from his regular template can be seen in the first half. However, he played it safe in the second half yet again by sticking to his formula. He is definitely not at his best in this film as a director and writer. There are glimpses of his brilliance seen here and there, but on a whole it is an under par performance from the star director.

Others:
Thaman’s music is average. A couple of songs are well shot. Background Score is fine. Dialogues written by Upendra, Anil are impressive. Cinematography is topnotch. Editing is alright. Production values are superb. 14 Reels Entertainment has once again made a very lavish film.

Thumbs Up:

  • Mahesh Babu’s performance
  • Cinematography
  • Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu Spoof

Thumbs Down:

  • Same old Formulaic Treatment of Srinu Vytla
  • Routine Comedy in Second Half

Analysis:
Aagadu takes off on a high note with a powerful introduction scene of the protagonist, followed by a fight and an introduction song. Starting scenes of Mahesh as cop are very good and gives the movie a promising start. However Srinu Vaitla failed to maintain the same tempo even for a span of fifteen minutes. The graph of the film goes up and down with a good scene followed by two bad scenes.

In spite of the fluctuations, first half of the film works because of Mahesh Babu’s introduction scenes, his love track with Tamanna and Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu spoof. Second half opens by revealing the actual plot of the movie. Later Srinu Vaitla shifts into his own zone of confusing comedy. Brahmanandam and Mahesh Babu tries to keep the audience interested in between all that routine fuss.

Mahesh and Brahmi do provide some moments of fun, but we are too bored of this ‘Dhee’ formula. Srinu Vaitla should have opted for doing something fresh from this. Instead he chose to play safe, but he couldn’t pull it off this time. He has completely relied upon Mahesh Babu and few comedy scenes to bail him out. You will come out disappointed if you are expecting something on the level of Dookudu. This film is very inferior to it and only works because of Mahesh. He should solely carry this film at the box office too.

Verdict: Mahesh’s show All the Way

The concept of online buying and e-commerce holds good for many articles and household items. But can you imagine a film ticket being sold online and that too at black price? Well, that has happened in our land and the reason for that is the much talked about movie ‘Aagadu’.

Reports reveal that some unidentified members have put up ‘Aagadu’ tickets for sale in the Quikr and OLX sites. However, they had great demands because one was asking Rs 1000 for three tickets while another was asking Rs 450 for a single ticket whose actual price is Rs 45. This came as a surprise to many.

While some of them didn’t venture to contact the sellers as they were not sure of its credibility, it is heard that few others have contacted them. While we don’t know if the sellers made money out of it but if the concept works then there is no doubt that we would start seeing other film tickets also like this. Black marketing going the online way folks!

The premiere shows in Overseas are off to a flying start with almost all the states of USA screening multiple shows and there is no exaggeration to say their is an unprecedented demand for the tickets. The movie had already crossed the US Premiere record set by Attarintiki Daredi

The movie screenings of benefit shows have started across the state from the midnight of Thursday and early morning of Fridays. The ticket prices have gone up to as much as 2000 per ticket.

‘If Aagadu Is 75 Cr, Magadheera Is 750 Cr’

Eccentric genius Ram Gopal Varma has once again rubbed the wrong side of cine lovers with his ‘critical’ comments on a newly released movie this time. After getting up from the hangover of those ‘Lord Ganesha’ comments with which he raked the ire of Hindu activists, Ramu is back taking potshots at latest release ‘Aagadu’.

‘Just watched Aagadu and now going to watch Dookudu, Businessman and Pokiri. I sincerely think Mahesh also should do the same’, quips Ram Gopal Varma, hinting that ‘Aagadu’ is a remix of shades from all those flicks. Also he made a comparison between Aagadu and Magadheera as he felt that those flicks are quite expensive ones in Mahesh and Charan’s respective career.  ‘I’m told Aagadu is a 75 crore movie. In sheer comparison, Magadheera looks like a 750 crore film’, he analyzes.

Ramu’s micro blogging page is spammed with both applause and brickbats for his take on ‘Aagadu’ and comparing it with Magadheera. It’s not new for our director anyway.

Sreenu Vaitla’s Shock To Prakash Raj

Share

srinu

Those who have seen the films of director Sreenu Vaitla and those who know him little closely say that he has the habit of throwing a satire on someone with whom he had friction. We have seen that happening in almost all his recent films. This time, Vaitla has given a shock to the powerhouse actor Prakash Raj.

Few months ago, during the shooting of ‘Aagadu’ a grapevine began to make rounds that Prakash Raj had an issue with an associate director of ‘Aagadu’ and that led to his exit. Later, Prakash also held a press meet and came up with a dialogue/poem which implied that the more someone tries to harm him, the more stronger and fortunate he will become.

Well, that poem at that point was alright but what goes around comes around when you deal with Vaitla. In the latest release ‘Aagadu’, Vaitla has incorporated a scene where in villain Sonu Sood is seen uttering exactly the same poem that Prakash Raj stated in press meet. Those who saw this are whispering if this was Vaitla’s way of settling scores with Prakash.

Mahesh Babu Throws Satire On Himself

Share

mahesh

Contrary to the popular opinion that Superstar Mahesh aimed his satire guns at other star heroes, he took a dig at himself only. Also that happened in a healthiest way, creating extreme fun in theatres for hardcore movie lovers who are watching ‘Aagadu’. Check this story.

When Mahesh’s Aagadu teaser released, the dialogue ‘cinemala prabhavam entundo teldu kaani, punch dialogues prabhavam maatram ekkuvundi’ got instant attention. Also the dialogue ‘Prathivodu pululu, simhalu.. velaparam vachestondi’ got craze and turned controversial. It was felt that Mahesh took a dig at other heroes uttering such punches. Though he cleared later that his dialogue is aimed at none as he is also mouthing such dialogues from years, there were still doubts.

Finally Aagadu release has given certain clarity. In fact, a villain in the movie says the famous ‘interval’ dialogue – ‘this is all time record’ – and Mahesh then utters ‘punch dialogues prabavam’. Perhaps, this is satire by superstar on his own flick.

Real Twist In Shankar’s ‘I’ Is Haunting

October 23rd is declared as the possible release of Shankar’s creative magnum opus ‘I’. The film will hit Telugu screens too, with same title and on same day. Vikram’s ferocious looks in the trailer along with grandeur imparted by huge production values has garnered terrific attention for ‘I’ all over. And here comes an interesting part.

Looking at the trailer, gossip mills are churning out the story of the flick. Some say that Vikram is a ‘manoharudu’, a handsome hunk who falls in love with his relative, an aspiring model, played by Amy Jackson. Knowing their relation, a hot shot producer who lusts for Amy then infests a virus into Vikram, making him turn like a hulk. If this is one story doing rounds, another version has it that Vikram is playing both hero and villain in the movie. Whatever it maybe, real twist in Shankar’s ‘I’ is going to be haunting for sure.

Mahesh’s Dargah Sentiment helps Aagadu?

Celebrities too like commoners have lot of sentiments and Tollywood Super Star Prince Mahesh Babu is not immune to it. Most of his films will end with ‘Du’. This shows how much he believes in sentiment.

He also has another sentiment and that is visit the famous Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti Dargah in Ajmer, Rajasthan prior to the release of his films.

He started this sentiment from Dookudu and followed the same for Business Man and 1-Nenokkadini. Now even before his latest entertainer Aagadu release, Mahesh visited the dargah and offered prayers.

Mahesh feels though 1-Nenokkadine didnot do well at the box office, he got tremendous name and fame and his performance is appreciated by critics. Fans believe that Aagadu too will be the all time great movies in Tollywood.
