Pora Pove Movie Review

Pora Pove featuring debutantes in the lead roles has hit theaters today. This film is directed by Lankapalli Srinivas on S.V. Movie Makers banner.

What is it about?

Vikas (Karan) and Sri Chaitanya (Sowmya Sukumar) fall in love instantly when they join an Engineering College. Chaithu is very particular about her lover as she wants him to love her only. When she comes to know that Vikas had affairs with her friends, Chaithu breaks up with him.

Performances:

Karan has very poor looks and screen presence. He should work on his body language and appearance to make an impression. Sowmya Sukumar is equally bad in every department. Both the lead actors never let the audience to connect with this romantic film. Jabardasth comedians did their bit. Rest of the star cast is relatively new.

Technicalities:

Dialogues written by the director Srinivas are targeted at youth. Songs of this film are composed by Yajamanya. More than a couple of songs are good to hear and also shot well. Biscuit song will enthrall the masses. Background score is nice too. Cinematography is fine. Editing is not up to the mark. The film drags on unnecessarily during pre and post interval periods.

Director Lankapalli Srinivas’s direction is alright. He has made a decent film on the technical front. But the script let him down. Poorly written script and bad lead pair didn’t let the film to connect with the audience.

Thumbs Up:

Songs

Thumbs Down:

  •  Chemistry between Hero and Heroine
  •  Story and Screenplay

Analysis:

Pora Pove has a simple story that focuses on the first love. Film starts off on an entertaining note, but fizzles within no time. Scenes at the traffic signal become repetitive and the process of falling in love is not shown in an engaging manner. Lack of chemistry between the lead pair is a huge minus for this movie.

Romantic films fail to impress if there is no chemistry between the lead pair. Director never tried to focus on right emotions throughout the movie. First half is a total letdown with nothing to offer. Movie only gets a bit interesting towards the end. Even that part isn’t dealt in a proper way.

Pora Pove is a clean film compared to other youthful films. There are few double meaning dialogues and unwanted scenes between lecturers. Apart from that the director tried to keep it clean. But the film is a complete bore fest with repetitive scenes and poor comedy. You can’t even watch this on a DVD. So forget about catching it in theaters.

Verdict: Stay away, far far away!

Oka Criminal Prema Katha Movie Review

Movie Story

Movie starts with Seenu (Manoj Nandam) attacking Bindu (Priyanka Pallavi) with acid. While Seenu is sent to jail, Bindu is rushed to hospital. Flashback is flashed in Seenu’s narration.

Seenu works in a photo studio in small village. He starts adoring a girl Bindu and this turns a two sided love over a period of time. In denouncing plight, Bindhu’s family shifts to Vizag where she senses domestic abuse from her uncle (Sathyanand). She has no option but to abide by her uncle’s torture. Hence, she avoids boyfriend Seenu who joins to work in Bindu’s college canteen.

Depressed with Bindu’s behavior, Seenu attempts suicide. Bindu then reveals bad experiences with her uncle and Seenu settles on to finish off Bindu’s uncle.

Why Seenu pours acid on Bindu? What’s the right validation Bindu’s uncle got in end?

Movie Advantages

Nothing muchMovie Drawbacks

1. P Suneel Kumar Reddy’s story, screenplay, direction

2. Over dosage of adult content

3. Lack of entertainment

Analysis

P Suneel Kumar Reddy is known for making youth oriented adult entertainers. The director also demonstrates a strong message through his films as seen in past Gangaputhrulu, Oka Romantic Crime Katha. Withal, what’s wrong in them is, he focuses more on comprising of adult stuff overshadowing the actual message.

In Oka Criminal Prema Katha, director Suneel wanted to convey the message of child and domestic abuse in India. These sorts of subjects are to be dealt sagaciously else meaning of the content changes wholly. If Suneel’s main intention was to pass on useful message, what is the necessary of adding excessive adult stuff? He crossed the bar of vulgarity, may be to please youth.

Suneel has directed many films; still he handled this film immaturely. After showing lot of filthy stuff, a delicate message is conveyed only in the end.

Sathyanand who trained most of top heroes in Tollywood might have thought of showing all his acting expertise in a grey role. His episodes are intolerable for any section of audience. Did this senior citizen and his director forget the basic morals of healthy universal film making? We can’t accept this role in any manner. Though we may see such evil minded crooked people randomly in our society, Suneel Kumar should have opted credibility to his script with diluted episodes dealing on domestic abuse and should have deusealt convincingly.

Manoj Nandam and Priyanka Pallavi were okay. Anil Kalyan was good at times. Other artists played their parts decently. Praveen Immadi provided decent background score and songs are easily forgettable. Sabu James’s camera work is not noteworthy.

Overall, Oka Criminal Prema Katha is a B Grade adult movie to discomfort all sections. Better, avoid this movie and families, home makers… do not think of this one.

Movie Result: Disaster

Movie Punchline (Movie Talk): Oka Director Boothu Katha

Ice Cream Movie Review

Ram Gopal Varma’s never ending attack on the senses of audience continued with his latest film Ice Cream. This was publicized as a horror film that will thrill the audience to the core. However it ends up as a horrible that will kill the audience for sure.

What is it about?

Renu (Tejaswi) is left alone in her home which is haunted by many ghosts. This film is about how Renu spends a day in that haunted house. Her boyfriend Vishal (Navdeep) keeps visiting her whenever she is in trouble.

Performance:

Navdeep: Navdeep has a very limited role. He is good in his brief role. His performance in the climax is impressive.

Tejaswi:
Tejaswi who used to play sister roles in the past got promoted to play the female lead in this one. She did okay job as an actress. Her liberal skin show is the only saving grace for audience who pay a visit to the theaters.

Technicalities:

Ram Gopal Varma outclassed himself in many ways. Ice Cream will be remembered as one of his worst ever. There is absolutely no script in the movie and his fantasy for new technology and cameras will torture the viewers for two hours. Ram Gopal Varma simply didn’t care about having any script. He has hired one big house and a couple of actors and played with the cameras. Let’s hope that this will be his worst film of the season as there are a couple more movies in the waiting list.

Camera technique used for this film is horrible and we bet that it wouldn’t be used by anyone in the future. Sound and Edit are equally horrible making it a painful watch. Producer may make money as it is made on a shoe string budget.

Thumbs Up:

Nothing

Thumbs Down:

Everything

Analysis:

Ice Cream starts off decently with some thrills thrown right at the start of the movie. One would expect a thrilling ride after the introduction of ghost in the first reel itself. However those ghosts have no role to play in the movie until the last scene. All we get to see is the flow cam ambling across the huge house for two hours with this skimpily clothed leading lady screaming and dreaming all the time.

The ending is atrocious as Ram Gopal Varma tried to sell it off as a real story. Varma could have simply remade Bhooth or Rathri instead of banking on this horrible script. Flow camera will only make the life very tough for editors than adding any value to the film. This film could have been wrapped up within 90 minutes if not for flow cam technology.

Don’t expect Varma to give some thrills by the look and feel of this horror film. It will only put you through endless torture and make you run for life. Stay far far away from the theaters of Ice Cream.

Verdict: This Ice Cream is injurious to health!
