Do they knew about ANR death before itself ?

Share

Akkineni Nageswara Rao is the only star who is carrying all those memories of past Tollywood film industry, Akkineni Nageswara Rao also gives a big family for industry and his contribution for film industry is unforgivable. ANR even acted in this age with his family members for his last film Manam.

Entering into plot of reality, ANR is suffering from cancer from past few months and he is been taking treatment also, Recently there are rumors that his health condition is serious and later Nagarjuna and Sumanth strikes off those rumors saying he is doing fine, but in reality it’s not the real news.
His entire body is filled up with cancer and he is in hard times of his life and doctors even informed about  his health condition that it’s turning worse than ever, Akkineni family members knew already that they should be prepared to bare any bad news very soon but they never expected that to happen too early.

Who said ANR was an atheist?

Share

Its known that both ANR and Kamalhassan are known to be ‘atheists” and believed in humanism over god-belief, but ANR left Kamal far behind onscreen by playing few roles as a staunch devotee in films. Despite Kamal was known for taking up many a challenging role, but he shied away from playing a disciple of lord (except for his brief role in “Dasavatharam) but kept away from devotional genre, fearing that he may not do a convincing job, since he doesn’t believe in Almighty in real-life.

Whereas, ANR coolly took up that challenge and proved that he would be the ‘best god-believer’ ( theist) on screen with devotional blockbusters like “Viplanarayana”, “Bhakta Thukaram” and “Buddhimanthudu”. Along with establishing his versatality, naata saamrat proved that how actors should keep away their personal beliefs, while taking up a role and do full justice to the role. After watching him as a tukaram and orthodox priest, who would dare to say that he was an ‘atheist’ since he performed better than many-so-called god-believing actors and lived up to the title of ‘nata samrat”.

Legendary Akkineni No More!!!

Share

Legendary actor and producer Akkineni Nageswara Rao finally left the whole of Telugu people in permanent distress. He succumbed to cancer, casting clouds of sorrow over Telugu film industry. The 90 year old actor himself announced last year October about his cancer and expressed confidence that it will not spread fast during old age. But fate got something else in store for the Akkineni legend and it has finally spread its claws and spit its venom to take him away from this world.

Born on 20th September 1923, Akkineni started his life in paddy fields and strode into theatre, then into movies and carved a name for himself in golden letters across the history of Tollywood. His 75 year old cinema career started in 1941, at the age of 17, when he made his debut with Telugu film ‘Dharmapatni’. ANR married Annapurna in 1953, after whom his production house and studio is named, and the couple have five children. She breathed her last in 2011, leaving the legendary actor much depressed. Their children include Venkat, Nagarjuna, Satyavathi, Naga Suseela and Saroja.

Akkineni is a cinema library who starred in 250+ movies till date in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, while ‘Manam’ is his last flick. There is no question of any role he hasn’t played in his illustrious career. A prince, lover boy, depressed lover, government servant, soldier, holy saint and any mythological role, ANR excelled with ease and proved that there is no second best to him. Art lovers and critics love Nageswara Rao because he played on-screen roles of cultural icons of different regions of India. Literally, Akkineni is the one who first initiated Telugu cinema industry to move to Hyderabad from Madras, thus creating separate identity for Telugu movies. He happens to be the torch-bearer of new age Telugu cinema.

Awards are not a big thing before this legacy he achieved, but yes they should be mentioned. He is the recipient of Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. ANR won prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 1991, and also won 4 Filmfares, 2 Nandi awards, 2 Nandi special honours, and Kalaimamani (Tamilnadu), Kalidasu (Malayalam) state awards.

While revealing about his cancer earlier, ANR said ‘Life is funny, now comes a twist’. His death is the permanent twist the actor has given to every cinema lover anyway. Deepest condolences to his family and every fan who will miss him forever. May his soul rest in peace!!!

No legendary actor in India had done this before. Yes, no great actor had the privilege of leaving this world while still continuing acting at an old age. At 91 years, Natasamrat Akkineni Nageswara Rao was acting in ‘Manam’ and the flick is to release soon.

Generally many say ‘acting is my life, my blood’, but Akkineni literally proved it without claiming any such. Technically, Manam is his 256th film and it features Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya too along with the legendary actor. Already ANR finished his dubbing part also the for the movie as he anticipated that if something goes wrong then the movie will fall in trouble. Though his body is getting eaten away by cancer, ANR maintained strong will through his mental health and wrapped up his last picture days before his death.

Long live Akkineni!!

Legend ANR’s Last Interview

anr

Not many celebrities would either discuss or dare to reveal their personal, health problems in public. Contrary to it, Veteran actor and Akkineni patriarch Nageswara Rao was belonged to rare breed and a true brave heart as he himself had revealed to media on 19-10-2013 (Saturday) that he was battling with cancer. Yet he was pretty confident that he would overcome it.

In his last media interaction held at Annapurna Studios, the 90-yr-old looked cool and composed. Excerpts from his last conversation:

Filmy career

I recently turned 90 and hence, I think it’s good time to share my thoughts with you. I’ve been working for films for 74 years and I’m still continuing acting till date (He is sharing screen space with son Nagarjuna and grandson Naga Chaitanya in upcoming family entertainer Manam). In 1940, I was introduced to films by P Pulliaha with a small role. Ghantasala Balaramiaha is the one who looked me at a railway station and picked me for a film that changed my fortune. I’m thankful to them and their souls.

I had not even dreamt of attaining this amount of glory and reputation in industry when I forayed into films. Now, my whole family is into films. While Venkat, Nagarjuna Susheela are all producers, my grandsons are into acting, my granddaughters are managing the studio. It’s my duty to thank everyone. Received civilian awards like Padma Shri , Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Dada Phalke award and many more national and international accolades and awards. I have never expected that I’ll come this far.

It’s third time

It was in 1974, I was suffered from high cholesterol and operate for the same on October 18, 1974. The operation was just came into use just seven years before I had operated. I asked doctors that how long would I survive after the operation. They said it’d be sufficient for 14 years. Exactly after 14 years, i.e in 1988, I suffered from a heart stroke (heart attack).

Susheela and Satya Bushan Rao were eye-witnesses. Doctors then told that my heart was inoperable and they declared that I may not survive if they operate my heart. It’s been 25 years. It all happened with dilators but not medicines.

Everything is going fine until this October 8. I have suffered from a pain in my stomach and went to hospital thinking that it was a gastroenterology problem. Joined in Care hospital followed by KIMS and gone through all kinds of tests. Life is very funny and gave me a new twist. After going through Endoscopy, Colonoscopy and PET scan, it is diagnosed that cancer cells have entered into my body. It’s important condition for me as till date I’ve already had two records (health wise) on my name and don’t know where this latest one will take me forward.

Cancer is not dreadful disease

I’ve acted in three to four films as a cancer patient. There is a usual perception that cancer is a dreadful disease and cancer patients won’t survive is a myth. I’m responsible for creating such with my role. Films dramatize things. But it’s not true. I will speak only after a thorough research. I’ve spoke to doctors and oncology specialists like Dattatreya (Dr Dattatreya Nori). They told me that if cancer is affected at young age, cancer cells would be aggressive and active like host. But when they affect at person like me, they do behave slow and inactive and thereby increases longevity. After discussing with all kind of doctors, I came to know that it’s not death point but it’s a more-years-living point. Now, it brought more confidence in me that I’ll achieve a third record. Cancer affecting me at this stage is a happy thing. We discussed this within my family and we’re not sad. Everyone acts in life whereas acting is my profession. But I don’t have a habit to act in my real life. One needs intelligence to tell a lie, whereas one needs bravery to tell a truth. Hence, I though it’d be apt to make it public rather than hiding this. Many have overcome cancer. Neelam Sanjeev Reddy also turned president after affecting with cancer. Recently, young cricketer Yuvraj Singh too overcome it. We can face it as we (Akkineni clan) has strong mind.

Two suicide attempts

When I was in early of my career, there were rumorus on me in industry in 1948, a year before my marriage in 1949. I was very upset due to strong rumours as I took them to my heart. I had decided to commit suicide and went to Santhome beach in Chennai. But with fear, I came back. And again, such rumours surfaced in media again. Again, I did another such suicide attempt. After going into a level of water, I realized that if I die, I’d prove their rumours right. Hence, I came back. I wrote a poem “Brathiki Baagu Konedi Ledani… Chavaboku
Chachchi Sadhinchedi Ledani…Bratakaboku
Brataki Jeevithanni Sadhinchu
Chachchi Kalakaalam Jeevinchu”

Death is inevitable/ Will live 100 years

I’m fortunate to live this long. Death is inevitable and no one can escape from it. My mother has survived for 96 years and she was the long living person in our family. So, I believe that I’ll live for 96 years for sure. 96 years is my target and if things permit, will live 100 long years too and then I will again call media for a press conference.

Appeal to fans

My appeal to fans, relatives, media and all my near and dear is that to not to worry about my health condition. And please don’t try to contact me and condole me and don’t make me recollect about my often. I’m sure I’m going to overcome this, like I did it in the past.

No objection if CM post is given to T permanently

Share

TDP MLC Nannapuneni Rajkumari today said there would be no objection if the  chief minister post was given to Telangana people permanently without bifurcation of the state.

Participating in the debate on Telangana bill in the Legislative Council, she said they love Telangana and even books written by her were also dedicated to Telangana leaders. ‘I have no regional feeling and I hope that the state would not get divided’.

Nannapuneni said Hyderabad was a well developed city since it was construed as second capital of the country. Thousands of crore worth properties of RTC were in Hyderabad.  Many people invested their money in the city. It was her personal view that the country would be weakened if the state was weakened.

If Telangana leaders give 10 reasons for bifurcation of the state, I will cite  100 reasons for keeping the state united’, she said and asked the centre why it has not taken into consideration the agitation which spread in 13 districts when it took seriously the agitation in nine districts of Telangana.

Disaster opened NTR Jr’s eyes?

Share

Post the biggest disaster of his career “Ramayya Vastayya”, jr NTR is tactfully tracing his steps back into Telugu Desam and broke his silence to reiterate his willingness to campaign for grandpa’s party, to regain his lost market.

Sometime ago, the actor distanced himself from TDP since he was annoyed with Naidu’s promoting his son Mr. Lokesh as the young leader of TDP and didn’t object to YSRC using NTR’s pictures and silenty allowed his old-time guardian and politician Mr. Nani, to join Jagan’s party. But the move, boomaranged on him and dented his ratings in Krishna, Guntur and coastal and even few Rayalaseem regions, since Nandamuri fans, shied away from him. So, he had to face the biggest disaster of his career in “Ramayya.”

Since his last release “Ramaya…’ didn’t get openings and could just garner 16 crores all over in his full run, much worse than his earlier flop- Shakti which managed 28 crores-. Unwilling to lose a big chunk of die-hard Nandamuri fans, who are the backbone for his success, the actor returned to its fold. Whether, he will be summoned for campaigning or not, but definitely his decision will help his career to stabilise and could bounce back. Once he was considered a contender to Pawan and Mahesh, but surely lost his plot, by wrong political moves. Will Nandamuri fans pardoon him and support his films or not, that remains to be seen.

Pawan’s Gabbar Singh 2 from March?

Share

It seems that Pawan Kalyan is not in a mood to get back before arc lights and likes to extend his break since he has reportedly informed the unit members to make preparations to commence shooting from March. May be he wants to spend more time with his newly-married wife Anna and also thinking of going on a tour abroad, so he has reportedly told his friend and producer Sarath Marar, that he would allot dates in March.

The much-hyped film was supposed to commence in November then in December and finally on January 25th, but now it would eventually commence from March. Hope, he will not postpone in further, since the team has already worked on it for almost a year.

South super stars 1980 reunion party

Share

Southern movie superstars such as Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Daggubati Venkatesh and Nandamuri Balakrishna along with star actresses such as Khushbu Sundar and Radhika Sarath Kumar reunited for a day filled with fun and frolic. As many as 32 popular actors of southern cinema of the 1980s got together at the beachfront property of Mohanlal Jan 18 here on East Coast Road.

“Mohanlal played host to the evening. We all had so much of fun talking, playing and reminiscing moments from the 1980s. We call ourselves the ’80s club’ and this is the fifth such get-together since 2009,” said Suhasini Maniratnam, who initiated the idea of a reunion.

“It has become an annual tradition and the group has grown in size. We were about 32 actors who once were very successful in the 1980s. We also follow themes ever year. This year’s party had a Hawaiian theme and all of us were dressed in Hawaiian shirts and outfits,” she added.

Suhasini said the response has been phenomenal. “When I floated the idea around, I wasn’t sure how many would be interested to meet. But I was quite surprised when mostly all the actors I met where game for the idea to meet once a year,” she said.

The only rule of the reunion is that the actors shouldn’t bring their families. “When we met for the first time, Rajinikanth emphasized that none of us should bring our families, not even our spouses. It was supposed to be a get together for the actors and it has to remain like that,” she added.

She said that other top stars such as Kamal Haasan and Akkineni Nagarjuna have expressed interest in participating in the next reunion. “Kamal and Nagarjuna have always wanted to join us, but they have been busy. They hope to join us next year. Some more actors have also expressed interest,” said Suhasini.

Other actors at the reunion included Ramesh Arvind, Suman, Ambareesh, Jayaram, Ramya Krishnan, Revathi, Saritha, Radha, Ambika, Nadiya, Lizzy Priyadarshan, Mohan, among many more. Actors from all the four southern film industries – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada were present.
