Chiru quitting politics to start 150th?

Share

Okay, Congress party has won with thumping majority in 2014 after Megastar Chiranjeevi’s election campaign. What will Chiru do afterwards? Okay, Congress lost cheaply and even then Chiru got nothing to do. So what is our matinee idol planning now?

Mega news is breaking in from quarters close to Chiranjeevi that the actor is mulling over the idea of quitting politics forever. Though he dreamt of making it big here, by the time he realized what politics are, his hands burnt heavily. Chiru is said to be feeling that if he delays now, even his film career will go for a toss and his popular as undisputed king of Telugu cinema for 20 years will be forgotten in time. They say that Megastar wants to bid farewell immediately after election and start his 150th project.

Unlike earlier rumours that Shankar will handle Chiru, it is director Vinayak who will be directing this much awaited golden cinema of the legend. But we have to see how far Chiru’s 150th dream and quitting politics will fall true. Only time will reveal more.

Yevadu Postmortem Analysis!

Story: Revenge dramas are done to death in Tollywood. Yet again Vakkantham Vamsi has offered one such story. Loosely inspired from 1997 Hollywood film Face/Off , Vamsi added a love track and revenge touch-up. This forms the first half of the film. While penning the second half, Vamsi would have seen Chatrapathi DVD in his rack. And it must have tempted him to copy-paste it to form second half. Now, he tries to establish a connect between both the halves. Thus Vamsi completed the task with ease and there is no need for him to have a brainstorm. After all, this is a copied stuff!

Screenplay: The screenplay of Yevadu is similar to Jr NTR’s Ramayya Vastavayya as another story begins after the intermission. Incidentally, other resemblances– both are revenge dramas; has Shruti Haasan as one of the female leads and appear in the latter halves.

Direction: Brindavanam director Vamsi Paidipally has recruited good cast who fit the bill. Keeping aside the originality of content, what works further against the film is a host of loopholes in the script.  The makers hasn’t have any idea about his protagonist Satya and what he does for living. Chandramohan episode has less connection to story compared to Allu Arjun’s. Yet auteurs try to focus on the former. One of Satya’s dialogue indicates that Deepthi wants to marry him fearing from baddie. Makers here fail to clear this doubt raised by them. One wonders why Kajal Aggarwal often restrict Allu Arjun in resorting to violence even when their both lives are in danger.

There is a scene where Satya meet ill-fate circumstances and shifted to hospital. Interestingly, neither police nor media have any clue or information about the solo victim of a much-hyped bus tragedy. When a patient is brought in critical condition and is in coma, the team of doctors who need to treat him calls for a leisure boardroom meeting! Story swiftly moves forward. Ram Charan makes his entry. Charan-Brahmanandam- Amy Jackson episode imitating a film rehearsal is dumb.

After many such loopholes in first half, scene shifts to second half. Charan is a college student who rarely goes to college and please don’t ask us the details about his course and college. What follows in college politics and outside college is predictable. While few episodes between Charan and villain Dharma Rao (Sai Kumar) are good, rest are overplayed. Since it’s predictable (rip-off of Chatrapathi), it disconnect us. Finally, movie ends on disappointing note with too routine climax.

Dialogues: Writer Abburi Ravi has remixed all the dialogues in previous films and revamped them to suit for Yevadu. At times, the lazy writer uses the similar dialogues.

Music: Devi Sri Prasad has done a fair job as music rendered by him is peppy, fun and soulful. Visuals captured by Shyam K. Naidu add the beauty to the music.

Stunts: Charan’s fight sequences are normal. Composition of Allu Arjun’s fight sequence needs special mention.

Technical aspects: Shyam K. Naidu cranks the camera well. He offers a visual treat to audience. Editing is slick and good.

Thumbs up:
1. Cast
2. Few hilarious moments
3. Music
4. Cinematography

Thumbs down:
1. Predictable scenes, twists
2. Rip-off scenes, cliche dialogues
3. poor script
4. Expected climax

Punchline: Yevadu misses to hit the bull’s eye. It’s just another passable film.

How is Baahubali’s day ending?

Share

If a set of 20 artists come to shoot every day, then makeup and costumes department will take care of it easily both before the start of the day and after pack-up call. What happens if 2000 artists are taking part? Is it not a mess to prepare them all and uninstall them?

For the upcoming magnum opus ‘Baahubali’, Rajjamouli is right now canning a battle sequence featuring 2000 junior artist along with film’s lead actors. One should imagine how tough it is to make all the 2000 artists wear makeups, their periodic costumes, carry weapons and get ready for the shot. At the same time, in the evening, they should undo all the stuff. It is heard that all this management is done by Rajmouli’s women power including his wife Rama, her assistants Prasanthi and Lasya.

This team makes all the junior artists walk in line, submit their weapons, remove makeup, change clothes and leave home in a queue. And the whole process including the shoot will be supervised by Keeravani’s wife Srivalli. Should we now say that Baahubali’s everyday shooting is ending wonderfully? Yes, it is!

Yevadu Movie Review – 3/5

Starring: Ram Charan, Shruthi Haasan, Amy Jackson

Producer: Dil Raju

Story

Satya (Allu Arjun) and Deepthi(Kajal Agarwal) are lovers who tries to escape from Veeru Bhai (Rahul Dev) as he eyes on the latter and decides to get married. Veeru Bhai sends his goons to kill Satya. On the other hand Ram aka Charan (Ram Charan) enters Vizag and starts killing Veeru Bhai and his gang. He kills the entire gang and just then he is attacked by Dharma’s (Sai Kumar) gang members. What happens to Satya? Who is Charan? Why is Dharma gang after Charan, all these forms the crux of the story.

Performances

Ram Charan has got totally performance-oriented role in this story driven film. As always his dances are a treat to watch out for his body language is impressive in the fights. Charan delivers a neat performance though he could’ve emoted more. His scenes with Jayasudha are impressive.

Allu Arjun does justice to his role and his role is vital to the main plot, Kajal Agarwal is beautiful in cameo and she did her role with ease.

Shruti Haasan is gorgeous but she doesn’t have much scope for performance and is limited to songs. Amy Jackson is glamorous in the song.

Sai Kumar is an asset in the second half, Jaya Sudha is very impressive, Kota Srinivasa Rao leaves his mark, Brahmanandam is wasted in poor role. Rahul Dev is good. Others are adequate.

Technical Analysis

Devi Sri Prasad musical scores are okay but he leaves his mark with background scores which is one of the biggest assets for Yevadu. Ram Prasad’s cinematography is first-class. Editing is neat although not great. Vamsi Paidipally direction is good. He narrates the film with conviction. Screenplay is gripping though predictable. Abburi Ravi’s dialogues are impressive. Choreography needs a special mention especially for the Freedom song Production values by Sri Venkateswara Creations are rich.

Analysis

Despite the novel storyline, Vamsi Paidipally made Yevadu a safe project with tried and tested formula, unique plot in commercial format. Yevadu has gripping screenplay yet routine treatment. The main asset of the film is the cast performances be it the leads or supporting cast like Sai Kumar, Jayasudha are perfect. The first fifteen minutes is crucial for the movie and the major plot gets revealed though later proceedings get predictable. Interval bang is handled pretty well providing wide scope for latter half. The second half is the key to the film and Ram Charan- Sai Kumar confrontation scenes, Jayasudha’s performance; DSP’s BGM does the magic. On a flip note, comedy never works in favor of the film and climax could’ve been effective. All in all, Yevadu has few thrills, good dances, entertaining action episodes and the needed glamour quotient to attract the B, C centers audiences while the A centers may feel it a predictable and routine revenge saga. With the right blend of action, effective twists and commercial elements, Yevadu makes a decent watch.

Final Verdict

Yevadu- Predictable Yet Gripping!!!

T Bill in February

Share

Telangana Congress MP Madhu Yashki Goud today said Parliament will pass the Telangana Bill in February first week.

Talking to the media here on Saturday, Yashki said the special session of Parliament will approve the Bill. The Centre is firm on its promise of giving statehood to Telangana, he said and accused some political parties of making useless comments for political gains on Article 3 which is used for bifurcating the State.

He alleged that the parties are belittling Ambedkar by demanding that Article 3 must be removed from the Constitution. This is nothing but an atrocity for political gain, he observed. Madhu appealed to all political parties to participate in the debate and give their opinions on the bill. Opposing the idea of voting on the bill being propagated by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Seemandhra leaders, he said their intention was to stall bifurcation process which is not possible. The Congress leaders should abide by the party high command’s decision with regard to bifurcation.

Mani Ratnam to team up with Mahesh

Share

Superstar Mahesh Babu who is baking under the glory of 1-Nenokkadine is all set to team with Priceless Director Maniratnam. Ever since Maniratnam completed his Kadali, speculation is on his new project. Though nothing concrete emerged, many say his next will be a bilingual with Prince Mahesh Babu who entertained with his Hollywood looks.

A close aide of Maniratnam says   “Mani Ratnam had decided to take his time to firm up his next. He was, in fact, working on three scripts and had kept the cards close to his heart. This had given rise to speculations that he was reviving Lajjo in Bollywood and that he was doing a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual with Fahadh. But now, he has decided to do an action entertainer. Mahesh Babu has been approached for this Tamil-Telugu bilingual, which will be made on a large scale.”

Even Namrata Shirodkar, Mahesh says  discussions are underway. Mahesh for long had been saying   “My dream is coming true finally. I will be working in a Mani Ratnam film.”

‘Yevadu’ team making fun of ‘1 Nenokkadine’ ?

Share

1 Nenokkadine opened to negative talk all over and except for few Mahesh fans no one is impressed with the film. Drop in collections on the first day itself shows that 1 Nenokkadine is going to suffer in the coming days. With 1 Nenokkadine, the most hyped film, biting dust, Yevadu is coming with multiplied energy.

A teaser showing Brahmanandam was released right after 1 Nenokkadine’s talk was out. In this teaser Brahmi says “Neeku Rendu rojulu time icha. Oka roju aipoyindi… repu kanipinchavo..” pointing his finger at Ram Charan. Although it is a scene from the film, observers are reading between the lines as Yevadu is releasing just two days after 1. It is like saying to Mahesh’s movie that you have one more day to cash in on.

However, Dil Raju is not known for controversies and he is very close to Sukumar and Mahesh as well. This may not be a deliberate fun teaser but a mere coincidence. But people are too creative these days and this is a classic case of such creativity. Makers should be very careful about the content they release nowadays.

Uday Kiran fans to trouble ‘Yevadu’?

Share

Ever since actor Uday Kiran committed suicide at his Srinagar colony apartment, there is huge hue and cry that Mega family suppressed his chances all the time. Also they started publicizing a list of movies that have never seen light due to Chiru’s pressure. Adding spice to this, those hardcore fans of Uday are now targeting Ram Charan.

Plans are being made by certain caste based associations to stage protests in front of theatres that screen ‘Yevadu’ on January 12th. These agitators want to highlight that Mega family is responsible for the falloff of Uday Kiran and hence the protests. However, some of the members in the same caste-association rejected this idea. They are attributing Uday’s failure to luck and are with the thought that there is no use of creating a big scene now. ‘None of these fans have come forward to Uday’s help when he is alive, but with his garlanded-photo they are doing all the politics now. This is a political move covered with Uday’s photo’, an observer commented.

Looks like Charan is having tough time with these agitators as whenever his films are releasing, some kind of agitators pop out to show strength against his movies. For Thoofan we have seen united-AP agitators and we have to see what happens now.

Kajal would have added magic in 1

Share

Glam girl Kaajal could have made a big difference to ‘1’ since she opted out of the project after doing a lavish song with Mahesh and 1000-odd models for the film but later couldn’t allot bulk dates and gave it up.

After scouting various names, director roped in Kriti but the debutant couldn’t set the screen on fire, despite looking pretty, but lacks magnetic and big sex appeal and also doesn’t have the statute to be paired opposite a big star like Mahesh.

The combination of Mahesh and Kaajal, would have taken the thriller to the next level, but it wasn’t the case, what you say guys?

This is the problem with Mahesh Babu!

Share

Superstar Mahesh Babu is apparently suffering from this problem – too much trust on his directors. Perhaps, this is costing him in big way and has backfired now. Mahesh Babu usually has a habit to rely on his directors- be it Srinu Vytla or Puri Jagannadh. Of course, fact of the matter is every hero or actor does it. But looks like, Mahesh gave total freedom to director Sukumar for ‘1’. Result? The director couldn’t pull it off and now the whole burden of film is back on Mahesh’s shoulders and he is trying to carry it further.

The plot of  One- youngster’s trauma of disturbed childhood and his intention to avenge it’ is as old as hills. Yet Mahesh trusted Sukumar and agreed to work with him. In fact, Sukumar ate too much time of Mahesh Babu. Mahesh has spent so many of his dates for this film. Perhaps, no star hero in position would have done so.

Buzz is that for canning one action sequence in One, Sukumar took nearly 20 days. But still Mahesh was behind the director. Mahesh would have done two movies within the time he spared for One. (The extended schedule of One in London itself is more than 70 days whereas it can be recalled that Mahesh finished the whole film ‘Businessman’ in 67 days). And the end result is not on par with Mahesh’s previous films. Looks like, it’s time for Mahesh to change his game plan. He can trust his directors at the same time, he need to estimate their strengths and weaknesses. Hope Mahesh’s Aagadu would nullify One.

Shock treatment to Samantha!

Share

Samantha who has been the darling of the Tollywood suddenly turned demon following her controversial tweets. According to the latest she is all set to get shock treatment. Samantha is currently starring opposite Surya in a tamil film directed by Lingu Samy. Lot of expectations are on the film.

According to insiders filmmakers are planning to rope in Bollywood beauty Sonaksi Sinha for the item song. So nothing is confirmed, Kollywood  is discussing that if Sonakshi stars in the film then Samantha will be losing her shine.

Many say Samantha who is a ‘pitta moham’ according to Mahesh, became star heroine with some luck but don’t look that attractive compared to Sonakshi Sinha. It has to be seen whether Sonakshi will give shock to Samantha.

Mahesh fans message to Nenokkadine movie haters

Share

Mahesh babu Nenokkadine gains a mixed talk at Box office and many reports stated it in a different manner with some minus points that affected movie, It’s sukumar behind this comments says filmy folks.  His screenplay and story line is too much confusing making it harder to a common man to understand Nenokkadine.

Taking this a chance anti fans started spreading jokes on Nenokkaidne. But mahesh fans has an answer for them. Few started spreading a message that ” To all those people who says “1” is a flop, If you like to see a movie with 5 songs and 4 fights don’t step into Nenokkaidne theater. You can never understand the value of a good movie.”

Balayya fans saddened with ‘1’

Share

Not the average ratings, not the negative talk, but something surely related to ‘1 Nenokkadine’ has disappointed fans of Nandamuri Nata Simham. Many Nandamuri fans are present at benefit shows and early morning premieres of ‘1’, but went home in a thwarted mood.

Before the release of Superstar Mahesh Babu’s ‘1’,  rumours are rife that director Boyapati Sreenu is getting ready to deliver first look of ‘Legend’ with this movie. It is expected that a teaser of Balayya’s ‘Legend’ will be screened during the interval of ‘1’. Except the regular no-smoking ads and few other product ads, no film teaser is screened with ‘1’. Nandamuri fans thought that with 14 Reels being partner of both ‘1’ and ‘Legend’ they will definitely get a chance to see Legend teaser on January 10th. But they went home saddened.

Anyway, it is director Boyapati Sreenu who should come forward and give a tempting treat to Nandamuri fans by revealing the first look and teaser of ‘Legend’ as soon as possible. Fans are waiting in hunger here.

1 Nenokkadine: Thrilling experience (Fan Review)

Share

I’m self-proclaimed fan of Mahesh Babu. Like many of his fans, to me, Sankranthi has arrived few days before with Mahesh Babu-starrer One Nenokkadine hitting the screens Friday. Yet what’s disturbing is that a Telugu picture, first of its kind made on par with Hollywood standards, being panned by a section of critics.

Contrary to their view, I’d like to express my views in a balanced way with this ‘Fan review’. Truth be told, the movie is ‘not that bad’ as pointed by them. In many ways, it’s a trendsetting film in tinsel town which has been sticking to age-old formulaic films.

The story is simple. It’s a tale of an individual Goutam, a rock star who lost his parents to goons, and takes revenge against them. Since his childhood, he is made to believe that he is suffering from a memory disorder. With this, it throws him into confused state. And he is unaware of things that’s happening in his front are true or not. What’s the truth? What exactly happened to Goutam? Did his parents exist? If so, who are his parents and how did they die? The rest of the film answers the above questions. Although, those answers are not comprehensive enough but they satiate the cynic in you.

Mahesh, who is arguably No.1 hero in Tollywood, has taken a huge risk by picking up this out-of-the-box and experimental story. He deserves credit for accepting such path-breaking story. He is extraordinary in every bit. And producers trio- Anil Sunkara, Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta- deserve a pat on their back for believing in such a subject and risking their money in this psychological thriller. It’s gutsy and arduous attempt.

And I do agree that definitely, there are mistakes in the film like in every other film and the mistakes in One Nenokkadine are not glaring ones. Director Sukumar should have handled it wisely considering the huge hype surrounding the film. He failed as a director. Too many cooks- there are many people involved in story writing, direction departments- spoiled the broth. Many compounding twists and turns complicates story but Sukumar tried his best to narrate it in smooth way such that even common audience could understand it.

Right from the opening scene- where Jr Goutam runs for his life- to the end where Goutam traces his parents identity, the film is intense, intact, tight and keeps you on the toes. The film strikes a chord with majority of audience as there are no unnecessary songs and dialogues. At places, the film appears draggy but never bores you and enthralls you. Music is soothing and fits the bill. Picturesque locales like Goa, London, Belfast give you a visual treat. Cinematography by Ratnavelu is top notch. Film’s heroine Kriti Sanon has made a splashy debut. Unlike other Telugu heroines, Kriti is very fortunate as she got maximum screen space in her maiden movie itself.

There are also few hilarious moments. Dialogues are good and flows with the story. Sample this, TV journalist Sameera (Kriti Sanon) tells this line in convincing celebrated rock star Mahesh for interview: ‘Celebrities could survive without ACs but can’t survive with out fans!’ Since this is a thriller film, it is unfair and inappropriate to expect comedy and duets. Interval bang is gripping and climax portion is ultimate.

Plus Points: Mahesh Babu’s performance, thrilling episodes, gutsy attempt in Tollywood, no unnecessary dialogues, songs, visual brilliance and top notch cinematography.

Minus points: Length of the film, direction, too many twists and turns

Verdict: ONE NENOKKADINE is a smart film which offers you food for thought and many edge-of-the-seat thrilling experiences. On whole, it is one time watch and makes a good watch this festive season. Go without huge expectations and I’m sure you will enjoy this film.

Fire Accident at ‘1’ theatre in Australia

Share

Reports are arriving from Melbourne that a fire accident has disrupted the premiere show of ‘1 Nenokkadine’. At the famous Chinatown Cinemas in Melbourne, superstar’s latest movie is being screened and all of a sudden the screen caught fire.

Though there are no causalities, it seems like fans of the hero are quite upset for organisers of the show not taking enough care regarding fire safety and exit. Luckily there was no major mishap, but audiences who attended the show complained that movie distributors should chose well maintained and latest theatres rather screening Telugu flicks in such old theatres. Also for the kind of ticket rate they are charging (nearly 27$), this is not the right theatre to screen ‘1 Nenokkainde’, say a few.

1 Nenokkadine Movie Review and Rating:

Mahesh Babu and Sukumar combination itself has raised so many expectations on 1 Nenokkadine. This film being produced by Dookudu producers and touted to be the biggest budget film in Tollywood history has multiplied the hype. The film is finally out in theaters after being in the production stage for around two years. Is 1 Nenokkadine the film that lives up to the hype?

Story :
Gautham (Mahesh) is a rock star, who suffers from a psychological problem. He has a troubled childhood and the images of that haunt him all the time. He is aware that three people have killed his parents and he gets nightmares about them chasing him and killing. Gautham believes that something has happened to his family and starts to chase those people.

Performances:
Mahesh Babu has given one of his career best performances in this film. He is a wonderful actor and Sukumar tapped his acting abilities to the maximum in this movie. Mahesh Babu excels in emotional and entertaining scenes. Interval scene is an example for how good an actor he is. The intensity he brings in is amazing. He is definitely the high point of this film. He has done some dances that will please his fans. There is no six pack scene, but he did go shirtless and appeared with bare back in a shower scene.
Kriti Sanon is alright as an actress. But her character irritates in the first half. Goa episode tortures on the heroine front. Nasser is good and Kelli Dorjee is usual. Pradeep Rawat is standard and Posani Krishna Murali is alright. There is an item song on Sophie Chowdary and it is not up to the expectations.

Technicalities:
1 is a technically well made film. It has superb cinematography and top notch visuals. We don’t get to see these kind of visuals in Telugu films often. Devi Sri Prasad scored with the background score. His songs are just average. We expect more from the combination of DSP and Sukumar. Editing is alright about the basics. But the film lags on and on and drags for almost three hours. Wonder what the editor was doing? Production values are rich and it requires guts for any makers to spend so much money on a film that doesn’t have any commercial elements.Sukumar is one director that makes movies with out of box ideas and novel themes. He doesn’t try to do regular mass masala movies and always comes up with something new. Even 1 Nenokkadine has a very unique plot, but he failed to execute it well. He couldn’t blend the action and the psychological angle of the hero in a proper way and the movie end up as a torture to the audience.

Analysis:
The protagonist chasing his unknown past is a good theme that could have been dealt in commercial format. Instead Sukumar opted to deal it in a different way, something that Tamil directors do. But except for few brilliant shots and intelligent scenes, Sukumar couldn’t do justice to the script and characterization.First half doesn’t move at all. Entire Goa episode is a complete waste and bores you to the core.Nothing happens until the interval point and things get suddenly interesting by that time. Interval scene is conceived well and we can see the stamp of Sukumar all over it. Mahesh simply rocked it.We expect the film to move at a faster pace after the break. But once again the confused screenplay starts to confuse the viewers and moves at a snail’s pace. At one point the film ends, but the director somehow manages to drag it for another half hour. Those twists didn’t work and the chases and action episodes just tests your patience.

Mahesh Babu’s brilliant performance is the only saving grace for this film. He has put in heart and soul in to the character and gave everything to it. But director Sukumar got it completely wrong and 1 ends up as an experiment that went horribly wrong.

Verdict: 1 Nenokkadine – Even Mahesh Babu couldn’t save this!
