Mopidevi to join YSRCP ?
With the continued incarceration of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, there is confusion over who will get tickets in the 2014 elections. There is a beeline for tickets in all the constituencies of the Seemandhra region. However aspirants are not believing the assurances of any leader other than Jagan himself for their tickets.
The party has appointed coordinators in several Assembly constituencies. The coordinators have been claiming to be the party’s candidates. As the party is way ahead of others in its winning chances, there is a heavy demand for tickets. With the appointment of the coordinators, several aspirants are turning dissidents.
In Guntur district, coordinators were appointed for 12 of the 17 constituencies. As there were claims from two strong communities, the party appointed one coordinator from each of the communities for 4 constituencies. Repalle constituency represented by the jailed former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana was kept vacant. As no coordinator was appointed there, it is being said that Mopidevi who is totally unhappy with the way Congress allowed him to be arrested and saved other ministers, might contest next election on YSRCP ticket. Mopidevi’s supporters are angry that their leader was sent to jail, while Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao got the total support of the Chief Minister and the cabinet. They are also pointing that so far the government had not allowed CBI to even touch the other ministers Sabita Indra Reddy, Geeta Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Kanna Lakshmi Narayana, though the Supreme Court has issued notices to them for issuing 20 controversial GOs that favoured Jagan. It is in this context, the YSRCP keeping the Repalle seat vacant is giving rise to speculations that Mopidevi might contest as the party’s candidate from there.
Though the party is in a strong position, observers feel that it has to contain dissidence as there are many aspirants for each seat.
Party official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu was appointed coordinator of Sattenapalli constituency. He is already facing dissidence. Several strong leaders like Nalanda educational institutions owner Vara Prasada Reddy, District Library Authority former chairman Chitta Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy and several others have been aspiring for the seat. They and their men are worried that they might not get seat.
It is in this context that some unidentified persons called up threatened to kill Ambati and threatened to kill him, if he stepped into the constituency. Ambati reported this to the Sattenapalli police.
The party also caused confusion to former senior TDP leader Umma Reddy Venkateswarlu who recently joined the YSR Congress. While appointing him as the coordinator for the Tenali constituency, the party also appointed former MLA Gudibandi Venkata Reddy’s brother China Venkata Reddy as the coordinator. Now Ummareddy’s group is worried if he would get party ticket.
Manisha Koirala to start new innings with ‘Market-2’
Market, released in 2003, was about a woman sold to a brothel by her husband. Manisha Koirala played the woman and the movie went on to become a huge hit. And the director of market, Jay Prakash is planning to make a sequel of the movie.
The actress was operated upon in December last year in a hospital in New York. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy sessions there and is expected to return in July Director Jay Prakash is keen to sign Manisha Koirala for Market 2 after she returns from New York, where she is undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer. “Manisha is my lucky charm. She was in my film Market and I had discussed the script of Market 2 with her. She liked the script. Once she is back after her treatment, I will again narrate the script to her,” he said.
Gunasekhar’s Rudramma Devi beaming with stars
Gunasekhar’s Magnum opus movie, Rudramma Devi is beaming with big heads. Already the ace film maker had roped in Anushka and Rana to play the lead roles and now he has some more additions. Rebel Star Krishnam Raju and versatile actor Prakash Raj will be playing the characters of Ganapathi Deva Chakravarthi and Mahamantri Siva devayya in the movie. Also Nathalia Kaur and Hamsa Nandini were roped in to play the characters of Anamika and Madhanika in the movie. A special set was erected in Hyderabad for the shooting of the movie which will begin from April 18th.
The movie is said to be India’s historical stereoscopic 3D film in which Anushka will play the title role while Rana will play the role of Chalukya Veerabhadrudu, the prince of Nidavardhyapuram (Present Nidadavole). Gunashekar had pinned high hopes on the movie as he has no hits for a long time now. Guna will himself produce the movie and had roped in some top class technicians on to the project. Ilayaraja, the music composer of the movie had already completed the songs composing.
