The telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday demanded that IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah resign from his post for his failure to get adequate water for irrigation in his own constituency in the district.

A delegation of TRS leaders inspected various villages including Jangaon, Raghunathpally and Khilashpur to study the prevalent drought conditions. Talking to reporters later, TRS floor leader Etela Rajender said that crops spread over hundreds of acres have dried up due to erratic supply of water and electricity.

Referring to the challenge posed by the IT Minister stating that he would quit from the post even if one acre of land had dried up in his constituency, the TRS leader said that the minister should accompany TRS delegation to witness the dried up lands and as offered, he should resign from his post.

As the health condition of several MLAs had deteriorated, police intervened and reached the old MLA quarters, venue of the fast, in large numbers. Police took the permission of the Speaker Nadendla Manohar to enter the premises. About 150 policemen swooped on the camp and dispersed party workers who tried to prevent the arrest of their leaders. They have taken the MLAs into custody and shifted them to the NIMS hospital in ambulances.

TDP senior MLAs Motkupalli Narasimhulu and Yerrabelli Dayakara Rao expressed their ire at the government for arresting them at midnight, when they were fighting on peoples problems. They made it clear that they would intensify the agitation, by launching fasts in all the mandal headquarters on Saturday.

It may be recalled that 29 public representatives including MLAs, MLCs and a Rajya Sabha member have been fasting since four days. The health of two women MLAs Vimalakka and Satyavati Rathod totally deteriorated on Friday itself.

Danam angry over TDP ?

Labor Minister Danam Nagendar has asked the YSRCP members as to why they tolerated criticism by TDP supremo against late chief minister YSR in the Assembly during discussion on no-confidence motion. He said he didnt keep quiet listening to the criticism of TDP against Dr YSR.

Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Saturday, Danam said he was always a fan of Dr YSR. He said the Congress party did not remove the portrait of Dr YSR from the CLP office because they have great admiration for Dr YSR. He said the TDP criticism on Dr YSR pained him a lot.

He said his response would have been different when the TDP criticized Dr YSR if he was not in a responsible position. He said he came out from the House as he was not able to digest criticism against Dr YSR.

Nagendar alleged that the prevailing power crisis in the State was due to the faulty policies of the previous TDP government. He said the TDP leaders resorted to indefinite hunger strike to clean themselves up from the power sins. He advised the TDP leaders to recollect themselves about power movements during their regime.

Danam alleged the then TDP government headed by Chandrababu Naidu had killed farmers who agitated against power tariff hike. He said it was not proper on the part of the TDP to confuse the farmers instead of giving constructive suggestions as the government was striving to solve the power crisis. He also said there was nothing wrong on the part of the Ministers for going foreign tours and made it clear that the Ministers went to Russia with their own expenditure for their own works.

Mopidevi to join YSRCP ?

With the continued incarceration of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, there is confusion over who will get tickets in the 2014 elections. There is a beeline for tickets in all the constituencies of the Seemandhra region. However aspirants are not believing the assurances of any leader other than Jagan himself for their tickets.

The party has appointed coordinators in several Assembly constituencies. The coordinators have been claiming to be the partys candidates. As the party is way ahead of others in its winning chances, there is a heavy demand for tickets. With the appointment of the coordinators, several aspirants are turning dissidents.

In Guntur district, coordinators were appointed for 12 of the 17 constituencies. As there were claims from two strong communities, the party appointed one coordinator from each of the communities for 4 constituencies. Repalle constituency represented by the jailed former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana was kept vacant. As no coordinator was appointed there, it is being said that Mopidevi who is totally unhappy with the way Congress allowed him to be arrested and saved other ministers, might contest next election on YSRCP ticket. Mopidevis supporters are angry that their leader was sent to jail, while Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao got the total support of the Chief Minister and the cabinet. They are also pointing that so far the government had not allowed CBI to even touch the other ministers Sabita Indra Reddy, Geeta Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Kanna Lakshmi Narayana, though the Supreme Court has issued notices to them for issuing 20 controversial GOs that favoured Jagan. It is in this context, the YSRCP keeping the Repalle seat vacant is giving rise to speculations that Mopidevi might contest as the partys candidate from there.

Though the party is in a strong position, observers feel that it has to contain dissidence as there are many aspirants for each seat.

Party official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu was appointed coordinator of Sattenapalli constituency. He is already facing dissidence. Several strong leaders like Nalanda educational institutions owner Vara Prasada Reddy, District Library Authority former chairman Chitta Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy and several others have been aspiring for the seat. They and their men are worried that they might not get seat.

It is in this context that some unidentified persons called up threatened to kill Ambati and threatened to kill him, if he stepped into the constituency. Ambati reported this to the Sattenapalli police.

The party also caused confusion to former senior TDP leader Umma Reddy Venkateswarlu who recently joined the YSR Congress. While appointing him as the coordinator for the Tenali constituency, the party also appointed former MLA Gudibandi Venkata Reddys brother China Venkata Reddy as the coordinator. Now Ummareddys group is worried if he would get party ticket.
