Chiru’s feeling about ‘Zanjeer’
The Union Tourism Minister said his son’s achievement has enhanced his pride as a father. He was speaking at a function organised here to release the promos of “Toofan”, the Telugu version of “Zanjeer”. Ramcharan and Priyanka Chopra are playing the lead roles in both the versions. Sanjay Dutt will be seen as Sher Khan in the Hindi version, while Srihari is donning the same role for “Toofan”.
Ramcharan, Priyanka, Srihari, director Apoorva Lakhia, producer Amit Mehra and others attended the function. Chiranjeevi recalled that it was after 13 years in Telugu cinema that he got a Hindi movie “Pratibandh”, in which he played an angry police officer, while his son Ramcharan got this opportunity very early in his career.
“It took me 13 years to do a Hindi film, but Charan has achieved the feat so soon. I’m so proud that he has done a Hindi film so early in his career,” said Chiranjeevi. The superstar is confident that the bilingual movie would prove a big hit as it has all the ingredients of a good commercial movie. “I saw some clippings of Toofan”. The acting, body language, actions and expressions are fantastic. The film will rock,” said Chiranjeevi.
He was happy that Ramcharan is playing the role of legendary actor Amitabh Bacchan in both the versions.
Ramcharan said it was a challenge. The young actor, who began his career in Telugu films six years ago, said he was initially reluctant.”But when I heard the story, which has emotions and everything else, I was impressed. Later everything fell in place,” he said. View Gallery: Thoofan First Look Launch
CAG is not Bhagavad-Gita says CM
“cag report is not Bhagwadgita, Koran or Bible. They give their report we will give the explanation. It need not be taken that seriously,” he said. There is crisis in the state and we are addressing to it, he said.
The issue came up when TDP member P Kesavulu pointed out that CAG has reported that Genco rates are higher.
Transport minister Botsa Satyanarayana also agreed that there was crisis in power sector and steps are being taken to ease the crisis.
Meanwhile, the Left parties held dharnas across the state in protesting against the power charges.
TDP, YSRCP express unity with Left parties
M Narsimhulu alleged that YSR has spoiled the power structure of the state. Projects were given to private parties and had seen to it that his son could power projects at other places in the country. Congress and YSRCP are responsible for the power crisis in the state, he said.
Earlier, YSRCP Honorary President YS Vijayamma has expressed solidarity with the Left Parties whose indefinite fast has entered the third day. She said that her party is prepared to fight for people’s cause. The fight for power charges will begin from the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s constituency itself, she said.
The acute power crisis is hampering agriculture and industry very badly, she said.
Jaipal & Jana Resign for Telangana
It is learnt that Jana Reddy told some of his close associates that he would resign if decision on ‘T’ was delayed any further. It is learnt that Jaipal Reddy also discussed about his resignation with the other Congress MPs of the Telangana region. The MPs reportedly urged Jaipal to lead the movement. He however declined to the suggestion, stating that his health would not permit it. It is learnt that though Jaipal had decided to quit his cabinet post, he would continue in the Congress party. He told the Congress MPs that though he might not lead the movement, he would render all help and cooperation to them. It is also learnt that Jaipal decided not to contest in 2014.
It may be recalled that the Telangana Congress MPs wrote a letter to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi to decide on Telangana by May end. They also reportedly warned the High Command that political equations would change if no decision on ‘T’ was taken by their deadline. This is to sound a veiled threat that they would leave Congress.
It is learnt that Congress leaders of the Telangana region were of the view that they should create an impression on the minds of the people that they were committed to the Telangana cause as elections were just an year away. They feel that if they still wait for the centre to take a decision on the Telangana, they would not be able to go to the people and seek their votes. It is learnt that this was the reason why Jana and Jaipal decided to resign.
Meanwhile Jana expressed doubts about the likelihood of the Congress High Command taking an early decision on the ‘T’ issue. Talking to the media on Monday, he said some were doubting if the Congress High Command would take a decision on the Telangana issue. He however diplomatically said that he was still having faith on the High Command. Stating that they were all trying to mount pressure on the High Command to concede Telangana, Jana said they would decide about their future course of action if the centre does not take a decision on the statehood issue.
