Rajpal Yadav Granted Interim Bail in Cheque Bounce Case

Share

Actor Rajpal Yadav walked out of Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court granted him interim bail in a cheque bounce case. The actor had spent 13 days in custody before securing relief, with the court granting bail until March 18.

During the previous hearing, the court directed the complainant to file a response and instructed Yadav to deposit a substantial amount toward the pending dues. At the latest hearing, Rajpal Yadav deposited ₹1.5 crore into the complainant’s bank account in compliance with the court’s earlier directions. The court also ordered him to surrender his passport, restricting him from leaving the country without prior permission.

Amid tight security and heavy media presence, the actor exited the jail premises and briefly addressed reporters. He said he has been part of the Hindi film industry for nearly 30 years and expressed gratitude to audiences across the country for supporting his films. Yadav also thanked his well-wishers on social media and stated that he has attended every court hearing and will continue to cooperate with the legal process. “Thank you to the High Court for giving me a chance to present my side,” he said.

Yadav was jailed in connection with a financial dispute amounting to nearly ₹9 crore dating back to 2010. He had reportedly borrowed ₹5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt. Ltd. to finance his film Ata Pata Paapata. After the film failed at the box office, he struggled with repayment. Over the years, multiple cheques issued toward clearing the dues allegedly bounced, leading to prolonged legal proceedings.

Several film personalities, including Salman Khan, Priyadarshan, Sonu Sood and Gurmeet Choudhary, reportedly extended financial support during the crisis. Yadav’s wife publicly expressed gratitude to those who stood by them during the difficult phase.

While the interim bail offers temporary relief, the legal proceedings in the cheque bounce case are set to continue.

Karthi in Talks for Anil Ravipudi–Venkatesh Sankranthi Film?

Share

Director Anil Ravipudi, who recently delivered a massive blockbuster with “Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu,” has not yet officially announced his next project. Though the film is reportedly locked for a grand Sankranthi 2027 release, the makers have maintained complete silence regarding the full cast and other key details.

It is widely known that Venkatesh Daggubati will play the lead role in the upcoming entertainer. Anil Ravipudi recently clarified through media interactions and social media that he will personally reveal the film’s details and urged fans not to believe in speculative reports. He also dismissed several titles that have been circulating online.

Earlier, there was strong buzz that Fahadh Faasil was being considered for a prominent second lead role. Fahadh, who is familiar to Telugu audiences for his performance in the Pushpa franchise, was seen as an interesting addition.

However, the latest industry talk suggests that Karthi has now emerged as the frontrunner for the role. With a solid market presence in both Tamil and Telugu cinema, Karthi is reportedly being considered to strengthen the film’s appeal across the two states and enhance its overall reach.

An official confirmation from the makers is still awaited.

Vijay Deverakonda–Rashmika Mandanna Wedding in Udaipur on Feb 26?

Share

Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are reportedly set to tie the knot on February 26 in Udaipur, with elaborate privacy arrangements in place for the ceremony.

According to media reports, the wedding festivities are expected to begin on February 24 and culminate in the main ceremony on February 26. The celebration is said to be a strictly intimate affair, attended only by close family members and a limited circle of friends.

Sources indicate that the couple has implemented a strict no-phone policy for guests to maintain confidentiality. Even the professional team hired to document the wedding has reportedly signed non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to ensure that no visuals or details are leaked. The guest list is believed to be deliberately small, with no members of the film fraternity invited to the Udaipur ceremony.

Following the wedding, both Vijay and Rashmika are said to be planning a month-long break from their professional commitments. However, a grand reception is reportedly scheduled in Hyderabad on March 4, where friends, colleagues, and members of the film industry are expected to join the celebrations.

The duo has largely remained private about their relationship and wedding plans. Nevertheless, during a recent promotional event, Rashmika appeared to subtly acknowledge their engagement, stating, “Everyone is aware of it. I’ll take your congratulations on all of them,” which further fueled speculation.

Vijay and Rashmika’s relationship has been in the public eye ever since their successful collaborations in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Reports suggest that the couple had earlier gotten engaged in a private ceremony, though they have not officially confirmed the details.

While fans await an official announcement, the reported wedding plans have already created significant buzz across social media and the film industry.

Kaveri Baruah Withdraws Claims on Allu Arjun Meeting Protocols

Share

Brand strategist Kaveri Baruah has officially withdrawn her claim regarding alleged meeting protocols for Allu Arjun, stating that she “sincerely regrets” the remarks and acknowledging that they were incorrect.

The controversy began after Baruah, during her appearance on the Sweekriti Talks podcast, mentioned that she had been given a document listing “42 dos and don’ts” by the actor’s team prior to an interaction. The statement quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread debate about celebrity access, management systems, and professional boundaries.

Allu Arjun’s team promptly denied the allegation, clarifying that no such document existed and describing the claims as baseless. As the discussion intensified online, Baruah issued a public clarification explaining that her comments were made in the flow of conversation and should not have been presented as factual claims.

She further stated that no verified document was ever shared with her and that she fully withdraws the remarks. Expressing regret, she added that she holds respect for the actor and did not intend to cause any reputational harm.

Podcaster Sweekriti also released an apology, confirming that both the complete episode and the specific clip containing the remarks were taken down. She said the conversation was meant to be educational in nature but acknowledged the unintended controversy it created.

On the professional front, Allu Arjun is gearing up for his next major project, where he will reportedly star alongside Deepika Padukone in an upcoming film directed by Atlee.

Pratyusha Case: Supreme Court Upholds Abetment Conviction, Rules Out Murder

Share

The death of Pratyusha remains one of the most controversial and widely discussed cases in Telugu cinema history. After 23 years of legal proceedings, the Supreme Court of India has finally delivered its verdict, bringing closure to a case that has sparked debate for over two decades.

Based on the evidence placed on record, the apex court ruled out allegations of rape and murder. However, it upheld the conviction of her boyfriend, Gudipalli Siddhartha Reddy, for abetment of suicide and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment.

The case dates back to February 23, 2002, when Pratyusha and Siddhartha Reddy were admitted to Care Hospital in Hyderabad after allegedly consuming pesticide mixed with a soft drink. The initial version suggested that the couple attempted suicide because their relationship was opposed by their families due to caste differences. Pratyusha passed away on February 24, 2002, at the age of 20, while Siddhartha Reddy survived.

While the police registered the case as suicide, Pratyusha’s mother, Sarojini Devi, consistently alleged that her daughter had been raped and murdered. She claimed that influential individuals were involved and that the incident was staged as a suicide. She further alleged that crucial forensic evidence, including biological samples, had been tampered with or suppressed. At the time, a local forensic expert, Dr. B. Muni Swamy, suggested the possibility of manual strangulation in his initial remarks, which added to the controversy. The case unfolded during the early phase of 24-hour Telugu news channels, leading to intense media debates and widespread speculation about political cover-ups and conspiracy theories.

Two years after the incident, a sessions court convicted Siddhartha Reddy under Section 306 for abetment of suicide and Section 309 for attempt to suicide, sentencing him to five years in prison. Later, the Andhra Pradesh High Court reduced the sentence to two years while increasing the fine to ₹50,000. Both Siddhartha Reddy and Pratyusha’s mother challenged aspects of the ruling, taking the matter to the Supreme Court.

With its latest judgment, the Supreme Court dismissed all appeals, confirmed poisoning as the cause of death, and ruled out charges of rape and murder. The conviction for abetment of suicide was upheld, and Siddhartha Reddy was directed to surrender within four weeks. Over the years, he has maintained a low public profile, and there has been little confirmed information about his whereabouts.

Pratyusha’s mother, who was a government school teacher before her daughter entered films, later started a charitable initiative in her daughter’s name and has consistently pursued the case in courts, including during Supreme Court proceedings, seeking stricter punishment. The final verdict is likely to be disappointing for her and for many who believed the case warranted stronger charges. Nevertheless, the Supreme Court’s ruling formally concludes one of the most debated legal battles in Telugu cinema history.

Nani’s ‘Aaya Sher’ from The Paradise to Drop on His Birthday

Nani, fondly called the Natural Star, is riding high on back-to-back blockbusters and is currently busy with his most ambitious project yet, The Paradise. The film is progressing at a rapid pace under the direction of Srikanth Odela, who is said to be mounting the project on a grand scale with meticulous attention to detail.

The makers have locked a special date to kick off the film’s musical promotions. The first single, titled “Aaya Sher,” will be unveiled on February 24, coinciding with Nani’s birthday. The song is said to be a high-energy introduction number, shot on a lavish set with hundreds of dancers, promising a visually spectacular treat.

Rockstar Anirudh Ravichander has reportedly composed a powerful, adrenaline-pumping track tailored to Nani’s vibrant screen presence. Adding to the impact is dynamic choreography by Sudhan Master, which is expected to elevate the song to another level. Nani is set to impress fans with electrifying dance moves and commanding energy.

Produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the banner of SLV Cinemas, the film is nearing completion and is gearing up for a grand pan-world release on August 21.

Ilaiyaraaja Faces Setback as Delhi HC Backs Saregama in Copyright Row

Share

Veteran music composer Ilaiyaraaja, who recently initiated multiple copyright infringement cases over the unauthorised use of his compositions in several films, has now suffered a legal setback in the Delhi High Court.

Earlier, Ilaiyaraaja had secured favourable orders from the Madras High Court, directing filmmakers to immediately remove songs after he objected that they had used his works without obtaining prior permission.

However, in a fresh development, the Delhi High Court has passed an interim order restraining the maestro from using or commercially exploiting several sound recordings and musical works. The order came in response to a petition filed by leading music label Saregama.

Saregama alleged that Ilaiyaraaja had been granting licences to third parties and uploading songs on streaming platforms such as Amazon Music, iTunes, and JioSaavn, claiming ownership over the works. The company contended that the original film producers had already entered into agreements granting Saregama exclusive, worldwide, and perpetual rights to reproduce, license, and commercially exploit the music as part of various films.

After examining the submissions, Justice Tushar Rao Gedela issued an interim order barring Ilaiyaraaja from further exploitation of songs in a catalogue spanning over 130 films across multiple languages. The court observed that under the Copyright Act, 1957, the film producer is generally considered the first owner of the copyright unless a contract specifies otherwise. Based on the agreements placed before the court, it held that Saregama’s rights require protection at this stage.

Notably, both Saregama and Ilaiyaraaja are already engaged in a legal dispute over the popular Tamil song ‘En Iniya Pon Nilave’. In January last year, the court ruled in favour of Saregama, clearly stating that Ilaiyaraaja cannot assign the song to third parties as the music label holds the copyright.

The latest interim order marks a significant turn in the ongoing copyright battle between the legendary composer and the music giant.

Maruthi’s New Script in Works: Ram Pothineni & Varun Tej in Consideration

Share

Director Maruthi is slowly bouncing back from the disappointment of The Raja Saab, a film that underperformed at the box office for multiple reasons. While Maruthi bore much of the responsibility in public perception, sources say that timing played a major role in the film’s failure.

Now, the director has quietly moved on, spending time in Kerala to develop a fresh idea into a complete script. With the story ready, the next big question is: who will play the hero?

Currently, Maruthi is said to be considering Ram Pothineni and Varun Tej for the lead role. The film is expected to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers, a collaboration that has been discussed in the past but never materialized—until now, when the timing seems right.

Ram Pothineni currently does not have any film on the floors, with a couple of scripts under discussion but none confirmed. This project could become a strong option if those scripts do not move forward. Varun Tej, meanwhile, is busy with a film under UV Creations. Once he reviews Maruthi’s script, there will be clarity on whether he or Ram takes up the project. While the final decision may take some time, sources confirm that things are steadily progressing.

Toxic vs Dhurandhar: March 19 Box Office Clash

Share

March 19 is shaping up to be a blockbuster weekend at the box office, with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups and Dhurandhar: The Revenge both slated for release. The date falls during the festive Eid and Gudi Padwa/Ugadi holiday window, making it a lucrative opportunity for both films. Earlier, Dacoit had been scheduled for the same date but was postponed, while speculation continues about whether Toxic will shift its release. According to reports from Variety India, Yash has no plans to move the film, banking instead on a strong long-term theatrical run rather than just opening-weekend numbers.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting Yash’s return after the massive success of the KGF franchise, and the film’s release was announced as far back as December 2023. Moving the date now could risk disappointing them. However, the report also highlights some friction between the Toxic team and the makers of Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh. The tension reportedly stems from a lack of prior communication, with a source noting, “Toxic announced its date earlier. If Dhurandhar 2 was planning the same Eid release, a courtesy call would have helped.” The team feels that the Hindi film industry lacks the kind of communication culture common in southern industries.

On the content and production side, both films bring significant strengths. Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, enjoys strong buzz in the Hindi heartland following the success of its first installment. Meanwhile, Toxic carries formidable pan-India appeal thanks to Yash’s previous hits. The film also boasts a stellar technical lineup: cinematography by National Award winner Rajeev Ravi, music by Ravi Basrur, editing by Ujwal Kulkarni, production design by TP Abid, and large-scale action sequences choreographed by Hollywood stunt director JJ Perry, alongside National Award-winning duo Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee.

For now, all signs point to Toxic holding firm on its March 19 release, setting the stage for one of the biggest theatrical clashes of the year.
