The massive success of Pushpa: The Rise has left fans eagerly awaiting its sequel. Pushpa 2 is set to hit theaters in just two months, and the excitement surrounding the film has already reached a fever pitch. Two songs from the soundtrack have already taken the internet by storm, further fueling the anticipation.

Music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) recently added to the buzz by sharing his thrilling insights about the film. Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of the year. The official release date is December 5th, and the hype is palpable. DSP’s revelation that even the first half of the film felt like multiple interval-worthy moments has set expectations sky-high. Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan: A Mixed Bag of Reviews

Share

Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film, Vettaiyan, directed by T.J. Gnanavel, hit theaters worldwide on October 10, 2024. This action-packed drama, also released in Telugu, has garnered mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike.

One interesting tidbit that has emerged is that actor Nani was initially offered the role of the corporate villain, a part that eventually went to Rana Daggubati. However, due to limited screen time and lack of character depth, Nani declined the offer. This decision has been vindicated by critics, who have noted that the character’s role in the film was indeed minimal.

Fans on social media have expressed varying opinions about Nani’s choice. While some have praised him for avoiding a potentially insignificant role, others have initially criticized him for turning down a big project like Vettaiyan. However, with the realization of the underwritten supporting characters in comparison to Rajinikanth’s lead, many fans now acknowledge that Nani made a wise decision.

In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth plays SP Athiyan, a fearless IPS officer stationed in Kanniyakumari. Known for his encounters with criminals, he is nicknamed “Vettaiyan,” meaning “The Hunter.” The film also features Manju Warrier as Saranya, a school teacher who stands up for her students’ rights, and Amitabh Bachchan as Justice Sathyadev, a Supreme Court judge fighting for human rights. The movie explores the conflict between different perspectives on law enforcement and justice.

Produced by Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan boasts a star-studded cast, including Fahadh Faasil and Dushara Vijayan, and features music by Anirudh Ravichander. While the film has received mixed reviews, Rajinikanth’s powerful performance and the film’s exploration of important social issues have garnered praise from many.

Smriti Irani to make her comeback in small screen

Smriti Irani participated in the Miss India beauty pageant in 1998 but did not make it to the top 9. She appeared in the song “Boliyan” from the album Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag alongside Mika Singh in the same year. In 2000, she began her acting career with the TV shows Aatish and Hum Hain Kal Aaj Aur Kal, which aired on Star Plus, along with a role in Kavita on DD Metro.

Her major breakthrough came when she was cast as Tulsi Virani in Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. This role earned her multiple awards, including five consecutive ITA Awards for Best Actress. However, she had a fallout with Ekta Kapoor and left the show in 2007, only to return for a special episode in 2008.

In 2003, Irani joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the next year, she became vice-president of the Maharashtra Youth Wing. She contested the 2004 general elections but lost to Kapil Sibal in Chandni Chowk. Despite facing political challenges, she continued to grow within the party, taking on significant roles. Recently, Irani has been active on television and social media, interacting with fans and maintaining her influence in the entertainment industry.

She has also appeared as a judge on the Telugu TV show Jai Bolo Telangana, showing her ongoing connection to the cultural scene. Interesting is that actress is rumored to make her small screen debut with the popular show Anupama, and official confirmation is expected soon. Fans are eagerly waiting for the news, as her entry into the show could add a new dimension to the storyline.

Ram Gopal Varma’s Controversial Tweet on Baba Siddique’s Murder

Share

Ram Gopal Varma, the renowned Indian filmmaker, has once again found himself at the center of a media storm. His recent tweet regarding the tragic murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique has ignited a fierce debate, sparking discussions on a range of issues, from celebrity culture to the state of law and order in India.

Varma’s tweet, while seemingly innocuous at first glance, has far-reaching implications. He suggested that the gangster involved in the murder is under government protection, and he made provocative statements about Lawrence Bishnoi, the alleged mastermind behind the killing. Bishnoi, known for his long-standing grudge against Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, has been accused of orchestrating the murder as a form of revenge for an incident that occurred decades ago.

The filmmaker’s tweet has drawn significant attention, not only for its content but also for the implications it carries regarding crime and politics in India. Varma’s narrative, which he describes as “cinematic,” paints a picture of a young boy who, driven by a grudge over a deer’s death, grows up to become a ruthless gangster capable of murder. This seemingly absurd scenario has sparked discussions about the intersection of crime and celebrity culture in India, as well as the role of law enforcement in addressing such issues.

Varma’s comments have undoubtedly raised eyebrows and sparked controversy. While he may be exercising his right to freedom of expression, his statements have the potential to influence public opinion and even have legal ramifications. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Varma will respond to the backlash and whether any legal repercussions will follow.

The incident serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between freedom of expression and social responsibility that public figures must navigate. In an era where social media amplifies voices-both for good and ill-Varma’s comments highlight ongoing tensions surrounding crime, celebrity, and accountability in contemporary India.

Oxford University Press launches trilingual Sanskrit-Hindi-English dictionary

Share

New Delhi, Oct 11 (IANS) The Oxford University Press (OUP) on Friday announced the launch of a trilingual Sanskrit-Hindi-English dictionary to make the Sanskrit language accessible to learners across the globe.

This aligns with OUP’s vision of advancing knowledge and learning in unison with the Ministry of Education at the same time increasing the number of languages covered in the bilingual dictionaries India portfolio to 13 (which includes 9 Classical Languages).

Oxford dictionaries are now available in Sanskrit, Bengali, Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi.

“Oxford University Press is dedicated to the preservation and enrichment of languages, fostering a global commitment to linguistic diversity, and knowledge dissemination. This trilingual dictionary represents a significant milestone in our commitment to promoting language learning and our cultural heritage,” said Sumanta Datta, Managing Director, OUP India.

“It will be a valuable resource for students embarking on the journey of learning Sanskrit, in keeping with the NEP 2020 and NCF 2023 guidelines,” he added.

The new dictionary was published in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthanam (UPSS).

The new Oxford Sanskrit-Hindi-English dictionary includes over 25,000 words carefully chosen for the learners of Sanskrit keeping in mind the relevance of words keeping in mind the vision that every Sanskrit student would be conversant and fluent in simple standard Sanskrit 10 years from now.

In addition, the OUP also announced the release of three other dictionaries: Compact English-English-Urdu Dictionary, Mini Hindi-English Dictionary, and English-Hindi Dictionary.

Earlier this year, OUP launched the English-English-Assamese Dictionary and the Mini English-Bengali Dictionary.

Sanskrit gained its ‘Classical’ status in 2005. Linguists proposed that both Sanskrit and many European languages trace their roots back to a common ancestor known as Proto-Indo-European.

This theoretical language is believed to have been spoken thousands of years ago, acting as a linguistic blueprint for diverse language families spread across continents.

The linguistic connections between Sanskrit and European languages also offer insights into migration patterns, cultural exchanges, and the evolution of languages over millennia transcending time and borders.

Israeli airstrike in Gaza kills three, injures 40 as tensions escalate

Share

Gaza, Oct 14 (IANS) At least three Palestinians were killed on Monday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the tents of displaced persons in Deir al-Balah, located in the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources.

Medical sources indicate that Israeli aircraft targeted the tents of displaced individuals near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, resulting in three fatalities and 40 injuries. A spokesperson from the hospital noted that the emergency department was overwhelmed by the influx of casualties.

In a press statement, the Hamas-run government media office in Gaza condemned the Israeli military for the attack, holding both the Israeli army and the US administration fully responsible for the continued violence. The statement called on the international community to pressure Israel into halting its actions, Xinhua news agency reported.

In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday said the Israeli Air Force had conducted a “precise strike” on militants operating inside a command and control centre in the Deir al-Balah area.

According to the IDF, the command centre was embedded within a compound that had previously served as Shuhadah Al-Aqsa Hospital, also known as Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, and was being used by Hamas militants to coordinate and execute attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel.

Israel’s large-scale military offensive in Gaza was launched in retaliation for a Hamas assault on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, during which approximately 1,200 people were killed and 250 were taken hostage.

As of Sunday, the Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 42,227, according to Gaza-based health authorities.
