After assuming office in early 2024, the TDP government actively promoted Amaravati as the future hub of India’s “Quantum Valley,” often using slogans like “From Silicon Valley to Quantum Valley.”
While ambitious narratives are commendable, they risk scrutiny when not backed by administrative capability, institutional readiness, and financial support.
The Amaravati Quantum Valley Declaration, officially adopted by the TDP government, included specific, time-bound commitments. It formally stated that IBM would install its Quantum System Two in Amaravati by January 1, 2026, and that the state would achieve the capability to test 100 quantum algorithms. These were concrete promises made by the government itself, not opposition claims or mere rhetoric.
The commitments were reiterated in public statements and reported in newspapers, including The Economic Times on July 7, 2025, which also mentioned a proposed $1 billion investment by 2029.
However, as of now, these assurances have not materialized. The IBM quantum system has not been installed, and the targeted quantum testing capacity remains unachieved. Instead of offering explanations or updated timelines, the government has largely avoided public engagement on the issue, leaving observers and stakeholders questioning the status of Amaravati’s Quantum Valley ambitions.
